Dr. Okezie Kemjika Aguwa, MD

Dr. Aguwa went above and beyond to explain my condition and helped alleviate my concerns. I was in a lot of pain and he got me into surgery as quickly as possible. Thanks to Dr. Aguwa I am a new person. I would absolutely recommend him!

I just recently had a neck surgery with Dr. Aguwa, he is amazing surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone! I have been having sever radiating pain in my arm and shoulder blade about 3 years ago and I got multiple opinions from different surgeons and they all told me that they have to fuse 4 vertebra. That was a little scary to me so I decided to get the injection and that helped for few years. However, this year the problem resurfaced and multiple injections did not help. So, I decided to go surgery route since I was in a lot of pain, but I know that they most likely they fuse multiple vertebra. Luckily a friend recommended Dr. Aguwa to me and after talking to him, he only recommend that one disc should be replaced and that should fix my problems. That was really good to hear. He is a wonderful and sincere and caring surgeon. So, I decided to go with the surgery. The surgery was a success and finally after suffering from constant pain for 3 months, I am pain free :)

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Aguwa. He truly cares about his patients and providing the best care for your individual circumstances. On my original consult, Dr. Aguwa said I was a good candidate for surgery but we could try to resolve the issue first with PT and Cortisone shots to see if it was possible to avoid surgery. After 9 mos. of PT, three cortisone shots and drastically altering my lifestyle, I decided I was ready to talk surgery and reclaim my active lifestyle. I wish I would have done so sooner but am so happy with the outcome and know we tried everything possible before taking the surgical route. Dr. Aguwa was so supportive and encouraging through the entire process and 7 wks post surgery, I was hiking 5 miles in the mountains. I have referred friends to Dr. Aguwa who feel as lucky as I did to have such a conservative and caring physician treating them.

I was suffering nerve pain in both legs for a couple of years. Dr. Aquwa listened to my concerns and answered all my questions in detail. By the time I decided to have the back surgery, I truly felt that I would be in good hand. My back surgery was a success. I recovered well and was able to move around in less than three weeks. Thanks to Dr. Aquwa's expertise and his office support team!!

Dr. Aguwa just gets it. He knows you're in pain and wants to get to the bottom of it, he genuinely cares about you. I am so happy with my result - no pain! I think the difference between him and past doctors I've seen is that he really took the time to understand my situation - and acted accordingly. I cannot thank him enough.

Dr. Aguwa is a miracle worker. I had a herniated disc and was not looking to have surgery but saw Dr. Aguwa for his opinion. He was honest and up front saying that due to what was seen it was most likely surgery would be needed but he didn't push it on me. He gave me time to approach the situation with physical therapy and injections. I did make some progress but not enough to live a fully functional life without limitations like before. Dr. Aguwa was right, surgery it would be. He is very personable, considerate and caring. He makes sure you fully understand what will happen and things should be after surgery so you should not have any doubts in your mind. He is a miracle worker! I got to go home the same day of surgery. The nerve pain was gone immediately and I didn't even really need any of the pain meds after a few days. *Also I don't have any strange butcher/ Frankenstein scars, which is a plus. I highly recommend Dr. Augwa for all of your spinal needs.
