Dr. Olaf B Johansen, MD

In June 2014 I had my first colonoscopy performed by Dr. Johansen. During the procedure he perforated my bowel. This resulted in emergency surgery to repair my bowel. I spent one day in Intensive Care and another 4 days in the hospital recovering. He admitted to me during a follow-up while still in the hospital that he had to flip me over back and forth several times in order to get the scope up me "because my insides were kinked". He said it in such a way that felt like he was blaming me that he perforated my bowel. He also admitted that I was "a half a hand" of people that this had happened to while under his care. It seems that Dr. Johansen was more interested in completing the procedure so he could get paid rather than aborting the procedure when difficulties presented themselves to explore other possibilities with me. I will never sign a waiver absolving a physician of botching a procedure again. Instead they are going to sign something from me saying that they will abort a… procedure if complications exist that if continued could cause harm to me.

The best Doctor around. We drive 2 hrs for over 8 years plus so I could hVe the best Dr. Around. I would recommend him very very highly

In my opinion, this doctor was thorough and kind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my family. Having said that, my experience is limited to simply a colonoscopy, not any surgery or other treatment.

Dr Johansen as well as being a very nice person is also a great doctor. I have had him as a doctor for 2 cancer operations. the doctor and his staff have always been very nice and always told me the truth.
