Dr. Olai Vivian Sam, MD

My daughter came in for a sports physical and was seen by P.A. Robert Smith. Testing in the amount of about $800 was submitted to my health care provider for sexually transmitted diseases. There was no discussion with me, or my daughter about the intended testing. HIPPA laws require authorization for this testing. No authorization was received. Reasoning for the testing, when discussed directly with Robert Smith, was "I thought because you have insurance...". To date I am disputing the billing with both Samaritan Hospital, Cohoes Family Care, and my insurance company. My insurance company has indicated that this (and any) testing requires authorization and because none was received, can and should be disputed. I have since moved my daughter out of this practice due to this incident. Be on notice that this office is very poorly run (previous issues with rude and physically intimidating nursing staff) and testing will be submitted, with no discussion with patients.

Dr. Sams downfall is some of her staff. Their to arrogant. No manners whar so ever!

Dr Sam is just an all around excellant Dr. Her knowledge of medicine and her compassion for people are top rate. She has been my Dr for about 7-8 yrs and i won't go to another unless circumstances warrent i have to.
