Do not go alone. He will not help your situation. He will black list you from the entire office if you disagree with him.

Do not see him alone. Record everything. He will waste your time and refuse medication that’s been prescribed for years due to his ego. Please do not go alone

Dr. Akin, I personally would not recommend him to my friends, family or stranger. I am sure he helps many people. A doctor takes an oath of some sort to be of help. I have never met a doctor quite like him. He has the personality of one who thinks he's above his patients. Awful!

You cant get appt without going up to his office I haven't seen him in 3 months because they wont answer phone. I have left multiple messages he nor staff never calls me back. If you are in real trouble of harm or harming yourself DO NOT EVEN BOTHER. He sucks at that!!!

I went to the Dr. for my monthly refills of antidepressents. I am in my 40's and have been going to various doctors for several years as I have lived in Memphis and Detroit. My earlier appointments with the Dr. were fine but we never talked very much, the visits were usually less than 15 minutes. Basically it was just a check to see how my meds were working and to go ahead with a refill. I have always had to wait at least 45 minutes after being there to see the doctor so I had allowed myself that time. The last time I went (this was scheduled months a head of time) I had to wait fir more than 2 1/2 hours and the only reason I got in was because I complained and made it a point that I had to be at work, I think that I would not have even been seen in that amount of time if I didn't make a show of being upset. There were patients that did go in ahead of me that had arrived after me. When I asked the receptionist when I could expect to see him since I had to know if I had to leave… for work (I work with animals and it is critical that I have an accurate time frame) she just kind of shrugged and would not give me a definitive answer. It is very hard for me to get a complete afternoon off given the nature of my job so I was very reluctant to leave, and I had paid already via Debit card and she said that she would not be able to take give me a refund of that in this office. When I saw Dr. Akinwumiju in the hallway, I asked him if he had any idea when I could get in to see him, he avoided my question and wouldnt' even answer me the first few times, then said to ask the receptionists and left. By the time I finally got in, I was anxious and angry for being treated this way, I needed to get my scripts and leave to get to my job. The first thing he said to me when I sat down was that he was not going to talk to me about this and get into a shouting match. He said he was stressed and dealing with this all day and did not have any desire to try to explain or to argue, I had not said a word. I was dumbfounded, I did even get to express my anger at being made to wait so long with no explanation. I said well, this is the last time I am coming here and he said good. He gave me my scripts and I left. I left in tears feeling completely humiliated.
