Dr. Ololade Adekoya, PMHNP, FNP

Dr. Ololade Adekoya fondly called “Dr. Lola” is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Lola obtained her undergraduate degree from York University, Canada where she graduated Cum Laude, her graduate degree from Bowie State University, MD, and her doctorate from Brandman University in Irvine, California.Dr. Lola has worked in several sectors throughout her career by serving adolescents and adults with psychiatric illnesses and addictions aside from her internal medicine experience. The experience Dr. Lola gained working in a variety of psychiatric environments allows her to treat diverse patient populations and diagnoses. She began her career in addiction medicine and has worked in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. She has treated patients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, mood disorders, impulse control disorder of conduct, oppositional defiant disorder, …schizophrenia, psychosis, ADHD, personality disorders, self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideations and suicide attempts, homicidal ideations, OCD, Autism, and other neuropsychiatric disorders.As a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner trained in psychiatry for individuals of all ages, Dr. Lola is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. She understands the significant fear associated with healing and is driven to deliver holistic psychiatry to individuals struggling with achieving mental wellness. Her practice style is grounded in treating the whole person (mind, body, and soul).At Valor Health, we cater to individuals and families in need of a diagnosis and those who already have a diagnosis in need of medication management. At Valor Health, we get a thorough history by asking detailed questions to get to know the patient better and to understand both the medical and mental health needs.After the detailed history is taken, we then set up a personalized psychiatric care plan that involves medication management, therapy, or a combination as the providers deem fit. We also refer patients to therapists who specialize in a wide range of mental health and behavioral issues.Dr. Lola provides psychiatric evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The Valor Health team can prescribe any class of medications that is appropriate for the patient. However, treatment for mental health issues and addiction often goes beyond medication, and she is clear about what medication can and cannot address.
