Dr. DiTano grew up in the heart of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with Summa Cum Laude honors completing two separate Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Neurobehavioral Science. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, graduating with the Hewlett Packard Top Medical Graduate Award. Dr. DiTano then trained in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, ranked among the best in the country. He then completed a hand and microvascular fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital. He was actively involved in training young doctors in hand surgery as an Attending physician at Allegheny General Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh as a Clinical Assistant Professor.
Dr. DiTano has conducted laboratory and clinical studies in the field of upper extremity surgery. He has written scientific articles in journals and has presented his research at national and international levels.
Dr. …DiTano treats pathology in the entire upper extremity. He is involved with treating common hand conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and hand arthritis with endoscopic carpal tunnel release and joint replacements. Dr. DiTano stated, “These techniques can eliminate pain and restore normal function to the hand.” He continues to specialize in trauma reconstruction and nerve compression injuries in the upper extremity. He also is available to give second opinions to help patients if needed.
