Dr. Orlando Charry, MD

Orlando Charry is by far the worst doctor I have ever had! I had a spinal fusion and 6 months later had a foraminotomy at the same location as the fusion. Neither surgery provided any relief from the debilitating nerve pain. So, my surgeon referred me to Charry. (Note I do not give him the respect of using the title doctor). Immediately he took me off of any prescribed pain medication. Told me to take Tylenol and Advil only. I was taking so much Advil that I had gastrointestinal issues and only then did he prescribe Celebrex. I have had many epidural injections prior to my surgeries. Charry had given me two epidural shots. Not only was the procedures the most painful shots I have ever received but following the procedure my pain was intense and lasted for weeks following. After one shot I was in so much pain I could barely walk. I knew calling him for help wa a waste of time but I still called begging for some help. I was told to "ice it" and continue my physical therapy. I… was not calling to get an opioid prescription. However, I felt like he thought that was the only reason for my cry out for help. After thousands of dollars of physical therapy, psychology, and acupuncture I was at my wits end. Charry finally wanted to move forward with a spinal chord stimulator trial. One has to be awake for the surgical procedure so that you can provide feedback on the placement of the electrical leads. I agreed to the trial and was actually looking forward to the potential of some relief. Charry performed the surgery for the trial. I was in so much painduring the procedure even the nurses were asking Charry to do something. He snapped back at them and said: "all I can do is cancel the procedure I cannot do anything for his pain". I did not know how painful the procedure was going to be so I thought it was normal. When the nurses took me back to my wife to recover they told her I was a strong person and that they were surprised at my pain tolerance. Of course they were not goin to say anything negative about Charry but you could hear it in their tone. I did get some relief from the trial and I am going to have surgery for the simulator to be permanently embedded. I lay awake sy night worrying how painful that surgery is going to be.. I am afraid IfI go to another doctor i will have to start all over with physical therapy, psychology, etc. I apologize for the lengthy review. I just want everyone to know my experiences.

Laughed when I fell in his office during the exam so unprofessional would never go to him again !!!

I saw this doctor for three months, tried every therapy he suggested at considerable cost to me....When I told him of this very high level of pain I scheduled an appt to see him. He called back to say no you can not come today. Later I spoke with a nurse that told me He would not prescribe any pain meds for me and would not move up my appt which was more than three weeks in the future. During this time I saw an orthopedic surgeon ( not referred by Dr. Charry) and he ordered an MRI which showed a significant herniation of a C6-C7 disc. This doctor immediately gave me a prescription for Vicodin. I saw this doctor for all this time suffering with pain levels every day of 8 out of 10. Often time 10 of 10. So do not see him without any proof of your condition because he will not treat your pain just make referrals.

He wants you to do a bunch of unnecessary things even if you tell him it has not worked for you in the past and if your on pain medication be prepared to be taken off and have your doses lowered without prior discussion as punishment if he thinks your not doing something your supposed to be!...... Although it is easy to get appointments probably because no one comes back his schedule is way open!......

Dr. Charry is knowledgeable, creative and practical in addressing issues of pain. He makes me feel like he has nothing to do today except focus on me and my issues. He uses a combination of therapies to address the problem, and didn't quit until I was functioning as well as possible - much better than I had been in years. The team approach - Dr. Charry, a pain physical therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist - works. It is a truly holistic approach to pain.
