Dr. Oscar Smith Spivey, MD

Dr. Spivey was rough and rude, and he showed absolutely no empathy for the pain I've been going through. There are plenty of skilled and knowledgeable urologist in other towns - I implore anyone in need of care to make the drive to someone else. After a week of severe pain and 2 ER visits, his only advice was to take aleve. Make the drive to Murfreesboro or Smyrna to see someone worth your time. Incredibly. WebMD was vastly more helpful that anything he told me.

I went here to have cysts drained, which nobody told me that it gave me a greater chance of them coming back. Normally this wouldn't bother me too much, until a week later. I was in so much pain that I couldn't move. My wife took me to the ER and after a lengthy visit and a battery of tests (CT, blood work, ultrasound, Urine Sample) it was determined that I had developed an abcess that was causing me to become septic. They informed me that it could have easily been caused by a small procedure. They were surprised to find out that I was given absolutely NO anesthetic and that the procedure was supposed to have been done with ultrasound guidance but wasn't. And he missed one, which wouldn't have happened had he used a portable ultrasound machine. When I consulted with Dr. Spivey, I found he was rude, as he wouldn't shake our hands. I also think that it was unprofessional and gross that after examining me, he removed his USED glove and instead of disposing of it in the garbage, he tossed… it on the counter. What should have been a simple procedure that had a recovery time of 7 to 10 days, after 11 days turned into a 6 hour sit at my local Emergency Department, a transfer to another hospital, a round of very strong antibiotics, and nearly having surgery. I literally would rather suffer with swelling and pain that to drive all the way back to his office and risk going through this again. I don't think I have EVER been this unsatisfied with a medical professional in my entire life.

Do not expect returned calls for the accounting department in regards to billing. They are either out, late, left early or just not in. They also do not have voicemail. I have been trying to get an issue resolved for 2 months and no response. All I get is we are a small office and there is no one here to assist you. If I owed money, they probably would have no problems in returning my calls. I liked the doctor, he just needs more professional staff. Long wait time.
