Dr. Oskar Varshavskiy, DO

I think he is a great doctor. He has always been very kind and helpful and supportive about treating my very nerve problems and fibromyalgia.

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Oskar Varshavskiy for several years and we thought we had a good relationship with him. He seemed nice. We always paid him. But Dr. Oskar Varshavskiy DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS (FYI) so if you don’t have insurance you have to pay out of pocket (CASH ONLY), and that was fine with us as long as he would work with us during moments we needed to pay cash and didn’t immediately have it. It was rare, but historically he seemed to be ok with this There was never a time we didn’t pay him. There may have been a few times where we had to pay him later, but we’re talking $50-$100 (not a lot) and he was always paid. There was never a time we did not pay him. Emergency & Breaking Point: I am trying to wean myself off an anti-anxiety medication (Clonapin) that I feel is more harm than good. I tried doing this on my own, but ran into issues because I didn’t wean slowly enough. I ran out of the medication as I was weaning, things seemed okay, but… after a week I went into a MASSIVELY SCARY WITHDRAWAL. I had a wiry speedy feeling in my head that caused me to have severe insomnia, splitting headaches, tingling & numbness in extremities, dizziness, tremors, goosebumps, my body temperature was all over the place, labored breathing, labored heart, and mania. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I ended up at the ER over the weekend because of this. The ER helped me with the withdraw symptoms so I could sleep and referred me back to Dr. Varshavskiy to help me wean off the medication. They said he would be able to assist me with warning off properly. I went to see Dr. Varshavskiy the next day to explain what was going on; I told him that I had been to the ER the day prior. I told him that I really wanted to wean off the medication and needed his help. I tried to explain how badly I had suffered from trying to wean myself off on my own. Dr. Varshavskiy didn’t seem that interested. Not only that, he had absolutely no advice on how to properly wean me off. He said, you just wean off (but clearly that didn’t work before on my own). My wife had recently changed our insurance because it was too expensive. Now we have new insurance but with a high deductible. Dr. Varshavskiy told me that I basically didn’t have insurance because of the deductible. I said, I understand but we couldn’t afford our last plan so we had no choice and had to switch. He said, I would owe him $100 for the visit. I said that is fine, but couldn’t pay him cash until a day or two later. I could have paid credit right then if he accepted it. Dr. Varshavskiy proceeded to ask why I would even go to a doctor if I didn’t have the money. I told him because this was an emergency, and I had no choice. I can’t go without the medication until I’m weaned off property. If I don’t take it I go through a dangerous withdrawal and would end up in the hospital again if not done right. Dr. Varshavskiy didn’t seem to care. He held the script over my head and said, this will be here when you have the money. I then had to drive to my wife’s place of work to get the cash from her and drive all the way back to pay him. The issues is simple. Even though my wife and I hav been patients of his for years, Dr. Varshavskiy had no problem denying me something I desperately needed in an emergency based on a measly $100 cash. This demonstrates that he has more care for a small amount of money than for my health & well-being. That’s NOT ok. Especially when he knows us and we pay. If he took credit like most doctors, I could have paid him right there. Only accepting cash or insurance for medical services is unrealistic. If he agreed that I could pay him within the next day or two that would have worked. After getting the cash from my wife and returning, I told him that I did not appreciate the way he held the script over my head for $100 when I desperately needed it and would no longer be going to him any longer. All he did was shrug. No apology. No explanation. Just a shrug. After going to him for years this is all I get. This is NOT the kind of doctor I could ever recommend to anyone.

He wanted me to switch my insurance so I could be his patient and because I didnt the had a vendetta against me. He call me the fat black one. Racicot. I wouldnt recommend anyone to go to him
