Dr. Otto Louis-Jacques, MD

We are so thankful to Dr. Louis-Jacque for his care of our daughter who has a rare GI disorder. After months of visits to Children's National and no answers and no improvement in her condition, we visited Dr. Louis-Jacque for a second opinion. He finally correctly diagnosed my daughter. Now, she's on an appropriate treatment and has improved tremendously--thanks to his accurate diagnosis.

Dr Louis-Jacques has been one of our Drs for eight years. He has always been kind and considerate with my child. He listens and explains things simple enough to understand. He is knowledgeable of my child's GI issues. I will not let my child see any other Dr.

While Dr. Louis-Jacque may be considered an expert in his area, we found him to be completely dismissive in the diagnosis / care of our child over a 2 year period. While we appreciate a conservative approach considering our son did not exhibit classic GI disorder symptoms, his failure to grow / thrive continued to escalate. We completed several rounds of testing and sought medical expertise from both GI, Endocrine and Allergy specialists. After repeated requests from our child's allergist and conclusive results that indicated the issue was not Endocrine related, Dr. Louis-Jacque still refused to consider a potential GI disorder issue and dismissed our case entirely. We fortunately found another GI doctor who after reviewing all the tests and materials, determined it would be best to scope our son and we found that he did have the rare GI disorder suspected by our son's allergist. Dr. Louis-Jacque set our then 3 year old son's treatment back 8 months by his refusal to treat or… investigate an otherwise atypical case. We would not recommend him to anyone unless symptoms were plainly obvious and treatable.

We have seen Dr. Louis-Jacques for several years (and he originally diagnosed my son 9 years ago). We have found him to be very thorough, and very kind. Since my son has so many complicated issues, Dr. Louis-Jacques has been very responsive to his needs, and we are grateful for the care we have gotten from him.

Dr did not seem to take my son's problems seriously. He ran tests that did not show why my son can't eat, and just told us that he has no idea, oh well, maybe he will get better on his own (problem has gone on over 6 months already!!!) What a total waste of time and energy!

There are not enough pediatric GEs in this area so I can understand the rush and delay in getting seen. But still when your baby is sick you would some more compassion and follow through from the Doctor
