I am very grateful of the professional and honest care my wife received who was diagnosed with rectal cancer this year. Dr. Bardakcioglu succesfully removed the cancer in a very long surgery and avoided a colostomy even though several other surgeons were convinced that she would not be able to avoid it. We both understood that this procedure was very risky and glad nothing bad happened. Thank you Dr. B and I hope your other patients understand that you are one of view who take on the most difficult!

After meeting with this Dr he was not prepared nor had he reviewed my file. He insisted on inking the cancerous polyp and turned that procedure into sigmoidoscopy which was not necessary. He then proceeded to inform he would have to perform a 6 Hr robotic procedure which included bypassing the large bowl after resecting it and attaching an ileostomy ( external bag) which could be used from 1-3 months up to a year. This would mean he would then perform another procedure to reattach or anastomoses the large bowl at a later date. This surgeon made me feel like a piece of meat . Therefore got a second opinion from a very skillful competent surgeon who I hired to perform the open surgical operation. The second surgeon performed the operation in 1 Hr 15 minutes not 6 hrs which resected the colon and reattached it in the same procedure. He then checked for leakage by pumping air and water to the reattached area with no signs of air bubbles or leakage. As it turned out my pathology report… showed stage 1 cancer with all 14 lymph nodes negative or clear of cancer. I had a sigmoidectomy which does not require an ileostomy. My operation is healing naturally and I am doing well. I thank God I got a second opinion because without it would have been a healthcare disaster. Therefore since this was major surgery it showed how there were huge differences in procedure and outcome. Lastly this first surgeon wanted me to consent to allowing others to fly in and view the operation which I said no to. In summary get a second , check the Internet and above all check doctor reviews.

I never needed this surgery and now i am ruined for ever.

Gave my husband a great option for surgery. Surgery performed was very successful with ambulation expedited by the surgery suggested.
