Dr. Owen Bennet Schneider, MD

I was terrified to go to this Dr after reading the reviews, but I saw him this morning and even though I cried through the whole appointment ( depression!!) I was surprised with the outcome. I felt like he genuinely listened to me and tried to put all of the pieces together. He asked a ton of questions to understand what was going on. He offered me MANY options and at no time did I feel like he pressured me into anything I didn't want to do.He didn't overload me with medications. He thinks through what you are saying and while he does, you can tell he's thinking ( hands to his eyes....its not that he isn't paying attention to you, he is...we all have our quirks). I just wanted to leave this comment here because it may help someone who is being swayed by all of the negative reviews. I've been a patient at the Waynick group for at least 10 years. I see Justin for therapy ( for the last 3 years) and I find that I always get in quickly and that the girls in the front office are always… friendly, even though they are busy. Billing also works with you if you are having issues. No, the office waiting room isn't beautiful, but the majority of the therapy rooms are decent or comfortable, depending on which dr or therapist is decorating them with their personal things. I also have had good experiences with them being on top of getting my disability and other forms out on time. I have referred friends here, and I would do it again.

Terrible visiting the Wayenick Group. The staff as rude and unhelpful as the reviews would suggest. Do not visit this office or these doctors

This comment is about the Waynick Group office more than Dr. Schneider himself. The office is woefully understaffed. Office workers are harried and through no fault of their own therefore disorganized. Service to patients is extremely lackluster. The office should be reported to the "authorities," if there is anyone overseeing this kind of operation. The physical condition of the offices is that of a Third World country. I know, I've been there. It's very out of place for Fairfield and Trumbull. Seats worn, paint old, smelly, non-circulating air. Appointments are as short as 10 minutes. You wait about a half hour to get in, in the stultifying air. It feels more like a county clinic for the poor in Los Angeles than a doctor's office in Fairfield, Connecticut, one of the richest areas of the country. Dr. Schneider himself is an obviously very smart professional but also quirky. You have to be open to different personalities to appreciate him. He is not fast about sending out… referrals. In one case I had to hound the office for two weeks to get him to send out the necessary paper work. Overall I'd give this entire office a "Poor" rating and suggest it be shuttered by the authorities. By the way, I just heard United Healthcare made record profits this quarter. This is a United Healthcare in-network facility. You can see why it is making profits, squeezing the Dr's offices who then squeeze the patients with undersaffed, lowest grade service.

I first saw this doctor over 20 years ago at the behest of my mother and following a traumatic intervention. (My mother worked in a facility that he visited) His original diagnosis of "Bi-Polar" cost me over 20 years of improper treatment! Once a label is placed, even when switching doctors, that is often the sole label they focus on It wasn't until MANY years later when my child was diagnosed ASD... That a closer look was taken at ME. Yup. You stupid jerk. ASPURGERS!!! Do you know how much misery having proper insight would have saved a 13 year old high school kid?

I was quite hesitant about having my initial appointment with Dr. Schneider after reading not so great reviews. I tried to reschedule my appointment with another doctor, but they were so booked I would have to wait three months. I couldn’t do that, so I kept the appointment with Dr. Schneider. I have to say, I am very happy with Dr. Schneider. I think he really understood me and he diagnosed me quickly after multiple psychiatrists couldn’t or really tried to push multiple medications on me which I didn’t want. I read quite a few reviews that his eyes were closed, he was sleeping or he doesn’t make eye contact, but I think people are too quick to judge. First of all, he wasn’t sleeping when I was there. I think that’s a bizarre comment. Dr. Schneider didn’t make much Eye contact with me, but he asked tons of questions and was quick thinking. I noticed a few pictures of Albert Einstein in his office and I mentioned I was a fan of his too and he smiled. We discussed Einstein… briefly and I came to think that Maybe Dr. Schneider is more on the brilliant side than anything. If he has multiple pictures of Einstein, he must connect with him. I’ve read articles that some people who don’t make eye contact could be much smarter than the rest of us. But I’m not an expert. It’s just my two cents here. Like I said, people are too quick to judge. I know some people have also mentioned that the staff isn’t too friendly. I noticed they are a very busy practice and they were nice and cordial to me. I can’t expect much more than that. I’m there to see the doctor not them. All in all, I was surprised with all the negative reviews. I am happy with him and will continue to seek his help there.

Horrible! Irresponsible practice of medicine!

Wildly irresponsible. Despite MANY requests over a week, failed to call in a prescription for a suicidal patient. Avoid this group at all costs.

Well...where to start? We moved to CT from the Midwest, our pediatrician requested we get our ADHD medicine from a Child Adolescent and Adult Psychology group. They didn't refer the Waynick Group but unfortunately for us this group was in network. We started out with Dr. Owen Schneider, he was extremely rude and had this gross cotton mouth. We had to pay $150.00 for that appointment. So we were referred to Justin Barsanti, when we arrived for our appointment he had no idea why he was seeing my 9yo son. I spent 5 minutes talking with him and walked out. Got billed another $150.00 for an incompetent Licensed Social Worker. I wish we would have kept on walking away from this group but I was a gluten for more financial punishment! We were refered to Ryan Dillian (A.P.R.N.), he seemed to know what he was doing the first couple of times ($300.00) but when our medicine rant out, I called him 4 times panicked and no return call, I had to call my son's pediatrician call to get him to… return my calls and schedule yet another appointment, so we went to him and he prescribed Vilivant, went to pick it up, $277.00 (per month), oh and another $150.00 to see Ryan Dillian. I called his office again in a panic, of coarse he never called me back! Thank GOD, Dr. Eagan from PHA was able to see us the next day and write a prescription, this cost us under $20.00 a month! I need to mention that both the Fairfield and Trumbull offices were very dirty and run down! Please save yourselves pain and suffering and tons of money and go elsewhere.

MONEY HUNGRY DOCTORS WHO ONLY CARE IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR COPAY, PAY AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT FOR A MISSED APPOINTMENT OR ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH COSTS FOR LETTERS, DOCUMENTS, OR FORMS TO BE FILLED OUT. SEES ABOUT 60-70 PATIENTS A DAY...HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO GET QUALITY CARE WHEN YOU ARE RUSHED IN AND RUSHED OUT?!?!?! S A V E Y O U R M O N E Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'LL BE HAPPY YOU DID!

The doctor himself I don't really have any complaints. But the woman who calls for appointment reminders is rude. I am not sure if she is the same person I spoke to when I first called for an appointment over a year ago, if not..then the entire staff is terrible. Especially for working with psychiatric patients.
