Dr. Oxana V Crysler, MD

My father was treated by Dr. Oxana Crysler for colorectal cancer beginning in 2022. He was initially diagnosed with stage II disease, and we were told his tumor was operable. However, Dr. Crysler recommended chemotherapy and radiation first to shrink it. After undergoing those treatments, we learned his cancer was stage IV. It was only then that molecular testing revealed a BRAF mutation. We were told the testing was being performed because it was now “part of the treatment plan.” Given what we later learned about this mutation, I continue to question why testing and its potential implications weren’t discussed earlier. Throughout his treatment, I felt Dr. Crysler took a rigid, protocol-driven approach rather than considering my father’s individual circumstances, medical history, and needs. Even after his diagnosis changed, it felt as though we were moving through the next standard treatment without meaningful conversations about alternatives. Communication was also disappointing.… At one point, Dr. Crysler went on vacation without informing our family in advance, leaving us unexpectedly working with covering physicians during an incredibly difficult time. My father died in March 2024, less than two years after his diagnosis. I cannot know whether different decisions would have changed his outcome. But I do know that our family deserved clearer communication, more thoughtful discussions about his options, and a physician who made us feel that his care was truly individualized. My lasting impression is that Dr. Crysler treated the cancer according to a protocol, but too often lost sight of the person living with it.

Dr. Crysler is very knowledgeable and always takes time to listen to me during my appointment. She takes time to understand my concerns and ensure to provide best option for care. She also explains what she is doing and seeing during the visit in a manner that is easy to understand.

Large knowledge of experimental chemotherapy options. Highly knowledgable, but can speak in with words that are easy for me to understand.

Dr. Crysler's follow-up care and support went above and beyond my expectations. She worked tirelessly to help my situation and we are grateful.
