Dr. Palmer Edwards, MD

This man misdiagnosed my genetic epilepsy, genetic connective tissue disease, and lyme disease as "mental illness" for years. Then, the hospital he works for used those misdiagnoses to cover up serious medical malpractice against me for years. No one would take my physical health issues seriously and I almost died multiple times as a result. I'm just now getting help for these issues at the age of 40 thanks to Dr. Edwards misdiagnosing me. He also made life threatening changes to medications I was on leaving me with uncontrolled seizures. This is not the first review I've tried to leave for him here and on other platforms and none of them will let me explain the severity of what this man actually did to me despite the fact that nothing I said in those reviews violates their terms for reviews. They care more about covering up for terrible doctors than protecting patients. My parents regret so badly ever taking me to him when I was younger. He ruined my life. Don't let him ruin your… child's life.

I was treated by Dr. Edwards for years for "mental illness" I never had. My symptoms of genetic temporal lobe epilepsy, genetic connective tissue disease, and lyme disease were blamed on mental illness and as a result I was not able to get help for any of them until recently(I'm now 40). The hospital he works for was able to cover up serious medical malpractice against me for decades by using his false diagnoses of mental illness that I'm now in the process of getting removed from my chart. He ignored things I said and would even write down the opposite of what I was saying in his notes. Example: I repeatedly said a med change had made me worse and he said his notes said I reported it made me better. The last straw was when he took me off a med I'd been on from age 17-31 cold turkey that caused me to have uncontrollable seizures and he admitted if I had epilepsy doing that could've ended me but I didn't have epilepsy so not to worry. That's funny because my EEG shows I have temporal… lobe epilepsy and my gene testing shows it's genetic. The neurologist I was seeing even told him he believed I was having seizures.He also told me I was exaggerating or imagining being in pain because I just wanted something to focus on. I literally have a connective tissue disease that causes my joints to dislocate, the most painful form of interstitial cystitis, and nerve damage all over my body. I can't believe he works with Brenner's Childrens Hospital now because that's where my nightmare originally started under Dr. Hal Elliott when I was 16. This man has no business ruining any more kids lives.

Someone stated this week that there is not a psychiatrist in town that manages medication and provides counseling. I was pleased to see that Dr. Edwards is still in practice. When my son was in eighth grade he experienced some suicidal ideation, had depression and ADHD. When we first started seeing Dr. Edwards, he would "cry" in the waiting room on the floor. In Dr. Edward's office he would curl up in the fetal position with his hoodie on at one end of the sofa. Dr. Edwards' professional care made a world of difference for my son. He went from that first visit to eventually engaging in care. Dr. Edwards' followed my son all the way through high school and early college. My son is an Architectural Lighting Designer at a prestigious firm in Manhattan, NY. Never give up. Dr. Edwards didn't, neither did my son.

Our son has been a patient of Dr. Palmer Edwards for about 13 years. His care began in early childhood and now he is seen by Dr. Palmer Edwards as a young adult. Dr. Edwards is well seasoned in his field, providing psychiatric care that is trusted, effective and safe. Dr. Edwards' approach is steeped in active listening, addressing and helping not only the actual patient but also providing support to the family members whose lives are often impacted by the actions and behaviors of the actual patient. Dr. Edwards is excellent when it comes to keeping scheduled appointments, and also finds time to be available when an emergency arises. Our family highly recommends Dr. Palmer Edwards for anyone who is seeking experienced, well planned-out psychiatric care and or advice.

My son has been a patient of Dr. Palmer Edwards for about 10 years. This care has spanned from childhood to teen to young adulthood. I have been present for most of these appointments. Throughout these years, Dr. Edwards has provided exceptional care in every facet. He does a great job of keeping his appointment times. He is a great active listener, and is also very effective at guiding the discussion with my son and myself. At every appointment he asks insightful questions, makes thoughtful observations, and provides practical strategies for improvement. Because my son has matured during the time of treatment, the needs of the psychiatric care have occasionally changed, and Dr. Edwards has shined in his ability to provide treatments in response to these changes. I give my highest recommendation to Dr. Palmer Edwards.
