Dr. Pamela M. Byrd

My visit with Pamela Byrd was about as awful as it gets. I came in to the urgent health care center in severe pain - Piriformis Syndrome. I had been up for 48 hours and had been unable to receive proper medical treatment at Central Vermont Hospital because I had to drive myself there. (I am currently living alone because my wife had to move back with her elderly mother during the COVID outbreak to care for her, leaving me with nobody else in the household) After waiting for a half-hour, with the pain escalating, she finally came into the room I was waiting in. She did NOT ask me if I was in pain. Her first question was "How did you get here?", which I answered : "I got a ride from my friend Sierra, who spoke with the security officer at the front when she left ( to do some errands) that she would be right back." She left him her cell phone number. Her reply was "That's not ideal", to which I replied " There's a lot of things that aren't ideal right now because of COVID", explaining… the situation with my wife etc. Her reply? "What if it was twenty below out" Taken aback by her apparent obsession with HOW I got there, rather than having any interest whatsoever in treating my severe pain, I said " Why are you talking about hypothetical situations? Can we just move on to treating my pain?" And then Pamela Byrd blew up. Because she was wearing a mask, I couldn't see her mouth, but I did see some extremely angry eyes suddenly appear. She then YELLED " This visit is OVER" with a loud emphasis on the word "over". And that wasn't enough. She then summoned security in an urgent voice as if there was some kind of physical altercation taking place, when nothing of the sort was occurring. Up to that point in time, I was simply talking to her. Not yelling. Not angry. I was in PAIN. Bewildered at this highly unprofessional and outright cruel behavior, and I remember this moment as clear as day, with my open palms extended, I pleaded " Can I just leave?", fearing she was trying to falsely implicate me in some kind of assault or violence towards her. I then bolted out the door. I wanted to get away from Pamela Byrd's raging anger and whatever twisted plans she had to punish me for my insolence - because I wanted medical treatment instead of lectures on "ideal transportation". Limping into the hallway, NOW I was angry. NOW I was being forced to limp in great pain to GET AWAY from a person that was supposed to HELP me. I screamed as I left, hoping to get the attention of other staff members who might be more rational and maybe a bit less cruel than Pamela Byrd. Here's were things took an unfortunate twist. In my panic to leave the room in my efforts to escape Pamela Byrd, I had left my cell phone and wallet on the exam table. As I was stumbling into the hallway, she once again YELLED in an angry voice "You forgot your cell phone". I stumbled back into the room, wanting to retrieve my wallet and phone as quickly as possible. My phone was on top of a sheet that I has requested to keep warm, so I grabbed that first. I then saw the outline of my wallet beneath the sheet, so I quickly grabbed the sheet and flung it into the air so I could get my wallet. After I grabbed my wallet, the sheet had fluttered back down, and unknown to me, one of the corners had somehow become lodged or caught on the upper right corner of the wall-mounted rack that holds the otoscope and other hand-held exam equipment. I grabbed the opposite corner of the sheet to get it unstuck so I could simply put it back on the exam table, when to my horror the sheet stuck and somehow pulled the entire rack to the floor with a loud clatter. It was an ACCIDENT. I had no desire to wreck anything. Once again, my main objective at this time was getting away from the hostile health care worker - Pamela Byrd. So then they called the Berlin Police. Nobody at the Urgent Health Care Center asked me my side of the story. I was ARRESTED and now face charges. To make matters even worse, the people at the center LIED an claimed that I damaged medical equipment. LIARS.
