Dr. Pamela Lynne Nerheim, MD

Dr. Pamela Nerheim is a brilliant, sensitive, very understanding and unbelievably capable physician. Her entire staff are always exceptionally helpful, pleasant and attentive. All of my adult life I have always gone to Mayo Clinic. When I found Doctor Nerheim I realized I could stay in Des Moines for the first time. I have never found a cardiologist that I thought was a more capable physician any place else Including Mayo. The last I checked mayo was number one in the world. I have been to Houston’s Baylor College of Medicine to see doctors Cooley and DeBakey with my grandmother and my uncle. They were two of the best cardiology surgeons in the world at that time. That was way back in the 1950s. I have been to The Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins and Mayo with my father, mother and brothers. My entire family have serious cardiovascular disease. We have been blessed to be financially able to go any place in the world we deem is the best. We are able to fly our own planes. That allows us… to set our own schedules. That has been a huge help. It is such a relief now that I am getting older not to have to travel all over the country in order to see my cardiologist. I can just get out of my own bed, take an hour to get ready, drive 3 miles and I am there. I recommend her to all my friends. I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Nerheim. She personally called me with test results and discussed my options. Then spent time consulting with other physicians to discuss the best treatment plan for me.

Dr. Nerheim gets 1 star for ordering the appropriate tests. She lacks in other areas. I explained to her I’ve had issues gaining/maintaining my weight my whole life. The morning of my appt I was rushed getting my kids fed/ready & out the door to get to my appointment. This meant grabbing a quick cheese stick and granola bar breakfast for myself. Dr. Nerheim wrote in my chart “claims she can’t gain weight but stated she only had a cheese stick for breakfast.” -as if what I ate that particular morning was indicative of my entire life. Unprofessional, when she first came in the room I wasn’t sure if she was the actual doctor because she appeared to not have showered in several days. Her hair was so greasy... maybe I could have fried myself an egg in it? If you’re looking for a professional cardiologist who cares... keep looking.
