Dr. Pamela Papola, MD

I’ve heard great things about Dr Papola so my review is not based on her, but office staff. She’s desperately needs a new office manager. The office manger is very rude and refused to schedule my son an appointment because he is seeing a neurologist. I’ve never heard of a doctor refusing to see a patient because they had prior seen a similar doctor. The office manager lacked compassion and was rude from the very second she got on the phone. As a mommy of an ASD child trying to get him all the help I can, it’s disappointing to see people in the ASD portion of healthcare not doing what’s best for their patients. After hearing such good reviews about the doctor and how knowledgeable she is with ASD, to be refused medical services and then be treated poorly was so disappointing. As an ASD mommy, I am solely trying to get my son the best possible care for the best chance at life, and they spoke to me as if I was not even a human, let alone a mommy doing everything in her power to help her… baby.

They will never answer the phone or return phone calls. I've been trying for over 6 months to get my son in. And I had to physically go in last time to get an appointment. And waits are 6 months or longer. The staff is very rude, uncaring, and disrespectful. NOT FRIENDLY. And if you need a med refill, good luck trying to get it. They won't care. Youll have to wait for your next appointment. I do not recommend them. Go to John Hopkins instead.

Dr. Papola ran tests and did referrals for the other medical problems she found. Her Medical Assistant was very involved and truly cared about my child.

this doctor has prescribed my almost 3 years old son a drug that causes serious withdrawal if not taking without parental consent. and also without knowing anything about child history or family history. there are always alternatives beside pills. my son walks around like a zombie. he has never had behavioral issues before and is prescribed clonidine. looked this mediation up and first thing that popped up was 2 year old girl died from mediation because she was too young to complain of side effects. this is soo wrong especially without parental consent.

I went to see Dr. Papola. She diagnosed my child with SPD and developmental delay. At the appointment she said my daughter was advanced with some delays but couldn't tell me what those delays were. She didnt go over any results of the evalution and didnt really elaborate on why she says my daughter has sensory issues. . After reading up on it and talking to relatives who deal with SPD , I see my child has NO symptoms. It seems shes basing this off the fact that my child likes her pacifier and hugs? I felt she didnt take my concerns seriously and she had the diagnosis within seconds of seeing my daughter play. Even though she showed no signs of SPD. None of my other concerns were addressed and some were even answered with "Idk what thats about" . She changed answers to my evaluation /rating of my child without confirming anything with me to fit her diagnosis. I was not pleased and most likely will not return.

I highly discourage everyone to see this doctor. My child had been seeing her for over three years - almost on a monthly basis - for treatment of several conditions she has, to include autism. Never during that time did she refer us to any type of therapy or give us any suggestions, except for pills, which never worked. I recently found out about behaviour therapy for her, and has worked wonders! When I asked her about it, she said: "Oh, I think it would be great for her, I think she is ready", and then I replied, "wasn't she ready 3 years ago?" to which she simply stayed quiet. I now know children half her age that are receiving the same kind of behaviour therapy, with excellent results. I guess she was afraid I would not return to her on a monthly basis to get prescriptions if I started the behaviour therapy. Do your child/children a favour, and don't go to this doctor; travel further if you must! - Signed: A truly concerned parent

Dr. Papola is an outstanding physician. Her excellent care, brilliant level of knowledge, exceptional professionalism makes her a TOP doctor!!! We highly recommend Dr. Papola. She has been an excellent source of information and care for our son. We are so grateful to have her as our son's healthcare provider!
