Dr. Pamela Rath, MD

This lady saved my eyesight many years ago. After 9 days in icu for pneumonia I am released and find out from local Dr I have cmv retinitis which he admits having no clue how to treat. Dr Rath saw me the next day and treated my condition with an intraocular injection 2 days later. She knew how to treat it no questions asked. One might assume an injection in your eye is scary and you'd be right. But Dr Rath kept me calm and got me through the procedure with ease. Follow up after follow up she was knowledgeable and compassionate. Because cmv is so rare I even allowed for some of her students to look at my eye as they may never get another chance to see it in a person in real time. Dr Rath is a no holds barred, straight forward doctor which some may interpret as rude or whatever word another reviewer used but I appreciate the honest truth when it come to my health. 16 years later and my eyes are still good all thanks to this amazing doctor. I will never forget how I was treated so… compassionately by her and her team!

My optometrist referred me to Dr. Rath after finding a spot in the back of my eye. Dr. Rath’s office staff was very efficient and courteous, both in getting me an appointment, and when I was at the office. Dr. Rath herself was knowledgeable and friendly, and patiently took time to answer my many questions. I feel confident in her care, and I have no reservations recommending Dr. Rath to others.

I was referred to Dr. Rath for a small hole in my retina. Without explaining what she was going to do, she started pressing on my eyeball so hard that it was extremely painful. She became impatient with me when I could not move my eye the way she wanted me to, which I found to be humiliating. I found out afterwards that the procedure she did was a "Scleral Depression", which can be uncomfortable, but should not be painful if done properly.

She performed an eval for a retinal tear. The exam left me with eye pain for 5 weeks and on-going. It was confirmed by a nurse with another ophthalmologist that she uses excessive force that other doctors do not need to do.

Have been her patient for 5 years. I was on my way to going blind until I was sent her way. After her work, I now see better than I have in years. I highly recommend Dr Rath. She's a great doctor and a great person.

If I need a shot in my eye every 6 weeks, I want Dr. Rath to do it.

I was very skeptical about coming clear to Pittsburgh to get my eyes checked again and possible treatment for macular degeneration. Dr. Rath was very good explaining to an 82 year old what was going on with my eye and why it should be treated. I want to recommend Dr. Rath to any one I know who would need this treatment.

She has the touch of a wild boar. She must think she is working on my truck. My eye is sore for two days after she examines me.
