Dr. Panagiotis Mihalis Fidias, MD

Dr. Panagiotis is by far the worst doctor I have ever had contact with. He treated my mother for lung cancer at Mass General. His behavior around her and his treatment of her, during the most devastating time in my life life, left me scarred for years. He treated her with complete disrespect and disregard. This is a cold hearted person that should not be practicing medicine and I am shocked that Mass General would allow someone like this near human beings.

I was referred to Dr. Fidias with an extremely rare lung cancer. He spent a great deal of time with my family and I and was honest and reassuring. He was warm and caring and was willing to answer any questions we had. His treatment plan has kept my stage 4 cancer at bay for over six years. He follows my care as if I were a member of his own family. I can't thank him enough and truly believe he is the best of the best!!!!

After getting the common cold from myself, my wife went to the hospital to determine if she had pheumonia. After her CAT scan, we found out she had lung cancer. She was 48 years old at the time. The doctors at the local hospital attempted a biopsy and were unsuccessful. They referred her to MGH. After reviewing her scans and MRI's, we were informed that not only did she have a quater sized tumor located where her bronchial tube enters her lung, but she also had cancer in one of her adrenal glands. Both organs were removed. After recovering she had her scans and they were negative. 2 1/2 months later, new scans and they were positive for cancer in her other adrenal gland. Immediately, Dr. Fidias sent her for a brain MRI. This revealed the cancer had spread to her brain too. We bluntly asked, and were bluntly told, she had 1.5 to 2 years left to live. She endured the whole brain radiation, the chemotherapy and all of the additional treatments to help lengthen her life. But alas, to no… avail. The existing cancer is not responding to treatment and the cancer has spread to her spine. None of this was the doctor's fault. It's life and it's fair. Dr. Fidias has been genuine and forthright throughout. Not only do we feel we have had exceptional treatment, we feel humankind is fortunate to have such a man. He is an asset to humanity. Thank you, Dr.

He was responding to chemotherapy when he picked up a hospital infection, but I wasn't told it was fatal. When suddenly all my husband's readings crashed, Dr. F suggested giving my husband some drugs to finish him off, and I said, "Give them to me, too" because I had promised to die with him, if it ever came to that, although I lacked the means. Dr. F then chased me down 18 flights of stairs and out into the street. When I got home, I found the police had broken in, and even though I slipped away and stayed in a hotel for a few nights, when I returned home, the police came and took me back to Mass General. Thus my widowhood began with extra harassment, due to Dr. F

Dr. Fidias and his staff cared for my terminally ill brother. He was thorough, answred any questions we asked, was willing to spend extra time if needed. When my brother determined he no longer wanted treatment(after 5 yrs.) Dr Fidias revealed his compassionate side. He told my brother he understod completely, and was always happy to see my brothers name on his patient schedule and would miss him. Initially, my brother went to a local Dr, who gave him 6 months,Dr, Fidias and his team extended that time, he was able to travel and spend time with his family. Thanks to this wonderful Physician.

Superficially, he appears to have great command. But drill down and you find that his comprehension of your case just isn't there.He was the primary care oncologist for my terminally-ill sister. I believed she died a year prematurely due to an oversight by the doctor. Was it a blessing in disguise ... possibly. But the fact the the Visiting Nurse was ringing alarm bells [potential adverse reaction to drug] while the doctor was indifferent was very disturbing.
