Dr. Pankaj Jayantilal Mehta, MD

I saw Dr Mehta at Schenectady cdpc, during the intake process and after months of said office lying to me. I’ve been on clonopin for 5 years solid, and 10 or so on and off. The withdrawal from this medication causes hallucinations, severe rebound anxiety, seizure, and months of mental anguish. Even though I’ve been on a very low dose of methadone for nearly a decade, and have been clean and proven myself enough to pick up one month prescriptions, this guy informed me that he cannot give me my meds because “I’m an addict”, and if I “take one too many and wake up blue it’ll come back on me for prescribing it” which doesn’t even make sense. You cannot use blanket policies, you must use critical thinking with every individual. A patient with a long history of trying a million meds and who found the right one should t be pulled off cold turkey, the liability in the withdrawal is more than the very small chance a stable patient would od. I also had to put up with disgusting attitudes about… sexual workers, he implied I was lying about my childhood, and questioned why I thought I had ptsd. He made a comment about my traumatic life being “exciting, like the movies” and questioned me too much about my sexual assaults. He straight out asked “were you (sexually assaulted) because you were charging men for sex” but said it with the R word, and was one of the most insensitive doctors I’ve ever met. You don’t ever imply the victim was at fault! The clinic had my old psych bridge my meds over, said I’d get my meds once I was actually there, and then refused to even taper me off them. This doctors’ reputation among women is absoluty horrid, I know 3 others who saw him, and I think most patients don’t know they can write a review. I’m willing to bet his friends have given him 5 stars, there’s no written ones until mine- after 40 years of practicing? Come on.
