Dr. Parker’s bedside manner during our family’s single interaction with him in the Hillcrest NICU was very disappointing. Our grandson was born late preterm and spent one week in the NICU. Dr. Parker only saw him on the final day, after the baby’s care and discharge plan had been managed daily by the established NICU team. During that visit, Dr. Parker stated he does not like babies going home before returning to birth weight and attempted to change the discharge plan at the last moment. My son explained that the baby had met all discharge criteria easily throughout the week with no setbacks and that he and his wife wished to take their baby home. A few hours later, Dr. Parker wrote the discharge orders and sent a nurse to review them. He did not return to the bedside. The baby is now home and continues to do well. My concerns were the last-minute change in criteria, the unnecessary distress caused to the parents, and the lack of discussion or engagement with them regarding their… baby’s care. The rest of our experience in the Hillcrest NICU was excellent. The staff was outstanding and provided exceptional care. Unfortunately, Dr. Parker was the weak link in an otherwise very positive experience.

Dr. Parker was my son's doctor in the hospital. He took very good care of my son, who was born three weeks early and needed special care. He was very good to come explain everything, and give me an update daily. He was very thorough and knowledgable. I would definitely take my son to him if he had a pediatric practice.
