If there was a way I could leave a half of star, I would . Dr. Spehar was a followup appointment after my daughter went to the emergency room for a Pilonidal Cyst at St Lukes in Lee's Summit, MO. We were there for follow-up for only 5 minutes, and he sent us a bill for $185. Less than five minutes and my daughter was told she doesn't need surgery. That was wonderful but to bill us for $185 is an outrage. If you go to the emergency room for any reason and the Doctor there refers you to Dr. Spehar, find another surgeon. $185 for less than 5 minutes is not only taking advantage of a patient but also robbing the insurance company. I'm filing a complaint with Cigna and Better Business Bureau. The fee for 5 minutes should have been significantly less. Cigna needs to get their portion back from the doctor.

He operated on me for diverticulitis. The surgery was planned. A few days after the surgery I returned to the er with severe pain. He downplayed the results of the ct scan but admitted me. After a change of heart he decided to operate again. Peritonitis had set in as a result of a perforation caused by a misplaced suture. I spent 17 days in the hospital and missed 49 days of work. He was always short and dismissive in his bedside manner. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer that I am being treated for and doing well. The main indicator of this disease is a high platelet level. I recently came upon the records of the two surgeries he performed(13 years ago) and saw 3 blood tests he ordered where my platelets were extremely high. They were flagged on the report. I cannot believe this was not addressed. I am reporting this to my oncologist at my appointment this week. Should be interesting. Bottom line, I would avoid this surgeon.

I was referred to Dr. Pascal Spehar by a gastroenterologist for removal of a growth from my intestines. I was able to schedule my initial appointment within about a week. I found his office staff to be very friendly and accommodating, and his office was pleasant and well-appointed. Dr. Spehar had obviously reviewed the file forwarded by the GE doctor ahead of our appointment. While Dr. Spehar isn't extremely talkative, he was very willing to talk to me about the surgery I needed and to answer my questions. I found his soft-spoken demeanor and easy smile very pleasant. His enthusiasm for robotic surgery was quite evident, and he was more than willing to explain its advantages and benefits. I have since learned that Dr. Spehar teaches other doctors how to perform robotic surgery. My surgery took place a little over a week following my initial appointment. The surgery went well, the incisions healed well, and recovery was uneventful. I would not hesitate to refer a friend or… relative to Dr. Spehar for surgery, and would absolutely seek out his services if I were to need surgery in the future!

I had a colectomy by Dr. Spehar, using the Da Vinci Robot. He is an amazing Doctor, who explained very well what he would be doing, then did it without any complications. Everything he did was perfect the first time. It is amazing how he is able to complete this complicated operation, taking out a portion of the colon, sewing it back together, then stapling the outer skin, and everything works perfectly. I was very fortunate to be referred to Dr. Spehar
