Dr. Pasquale Casale

Let me start by saying I normally do not leave many online reviews but in this case I am making an exception in the hopes that my input may help a loving parent provide their child with the best urological healthcare possible while easing parents anxiety. My family and I first met Dr. Casale in NYC at his Manhattan office seeking a third opinion on my daughter's likely nephrectomy due to her being born with a non-functioning multi-cystic kidney. After meeting with two other pediatric urologists and finally with Dr. Casale, it was clear to my wife and I that Dr. Casale was going to be the doctor who was going to handle our daughter's surgery. Dr. Casale echoed what the previous two doctors told us. The difference was, how Dr. Casale spoke to us about our daughter's condition and the best course of action and why. After our meeting with Dr. Casale we were so certain that Dr. Casale was going to perform our daughter's nephrectomy that when Dr. Casale moved to join the amazing… facility at Disney's Pavilion for Children in Orlando, Florida we followed him, Covid-19 concerns and all. Throughout the process leading up to the day of surgery Dr. Casale was always accessible by phone or video-conference to answer all our questions and concerns and we had many. I am so thrilled to state that my little girl's nephrectomy went so smoothly. She was in and out of surgery in less then an hour. Imagine that, a nephrectomy with the tiniest of incisions in under an hour. Needless to say, Dr. Casale and his team are awesome! Our little girl's surgery went better than expected and her recovery has been outstanding. If you are in the unfortunate situation as we were, needing a pediatric urologist surgeon look no more than to Dr. Casale. He's not only a phenomenal surgeon but a wonderful person.

I was pregnant when I found out that my son had kidney issues. Uncomfortable with local doctors o searched for the best in the country. I was planning on taking my son to Oakland (California) Children’s hospital. That was a major commitment for us, both financially and emotionally. Oakland put us in touch with Dr. Casale and assured that there was no need to travel across the country. Leading up to the surgery he was easy to talk to, answered all of my questions and even called me at home. The surgery took longer than most children’s that day. I watched families arrive and leave all day while I waited. My baby was a little groggy at first,(as expected) but he bounced back in 24 hours and was able to go home. Had I done the surgery locally, it would have been a two week recovery. I’m beyond grateful for Dr. Casale and his team.

Dr. Casale is truly a wonderful doctor and person. He is a true professional in his field. We were so glad that he came into our lives when he did. He immediately noticed the issue (where other ‘top doctors in NYC’ completely missed or downplayed it). From the beginning, he would take his time, explain the issue in detail, explain the procedure(s) in detail, all while exemplifying great (and emphatic) bedside manners. Our son truly connected and trusted him. He will be a true asset to the Florida community. We plan to will follow him if needed. Thank you for being such a great doctor!

Our daughter was diagnosed with Vesicoureteral reflux at age 2. It goes without saying that we were pretty scared and overwhelmed at times with her numerous urinary tract infections. No parent ever wants to see their kid in pain and Dr. Casale completely understands this. His calm and caring demeanor always put us at ease even when he had to tell us that there was a 50/50 chance she would need surgery. Dr. Casale is definitely the most communicative physician I’ve ever worked with. He immediately responded to an email about a breakthrough UTI while he was on vacation. And when — to our surprise — we found out our daughter’s condition had resolved on its own, Dr. Casale was just as happy and relieved as us. To say he went above and beyond what we expected from a pediatric physician is an understatement. I truly don’t know what we would have done without him!

My son was born with a genetic disorder that effected his kidneys. I thank God everyday that I found Dr. Casale. He is not only a professional, extremely educated doctor, but he is a sincere, "real person" as well, and he treats his patients and their families the same. In our opinion there is no other pediatric urologist.

I hope this review finds the doctor and the department of urology because what happened to me and my son should not happen ever again. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. P. Casale a month ago for my 6 year old son. I was told the location was the uptown location in NYC on 98th St. my son missed school today and we drove ALL the way from Central Long Island (67 miles) When we showed up we were told the doctor is not in today and was actually at the downtown location. (25min drive). We got in the car and drove all the way downtown. When we arrived at that MS location and went to the second floor (as per website address) I was told we are in the wrong place and no doctor or department by that name is there. They sent me back down to the info desk. The info desk told me I had to exit the building and go around the block and enter through the ER to the pediatric center. We did just that and was told again- no doctor bu that name. 20min later while the nice nurses tried to help me I was… told not even they could reach the department and had no clue where I should go!!! So after 3 different locations and ENTIRE daybwas wasted and my poor 6 year old was dragged all over NYC. Mount Sinai website is highly incompetent and the staff members were beyond unflorfessinal when I called they couldn’t even tell me where to go! While I heard good reviews of the doctor the staff, website and everything has been horrendous! I am beyond angry and upset as my son needs medical attention. This experience was unfair and truly avoidable had people known the proper information tongive to the patients who schedule appointments!

We came to Dr. Casale for a second opinion regarding urinary reflux. We had been told by other surgeons that we were facing an operation for our daughter. Dr. Casale agreed with the other doctors, but took his time explaining to us different options. He explained open surgery, robotic, and endoscopic with pros and cons of each. He explained how robotic surgery is not embraced by all and shared his experience with this procedure. We left very satisfied but still nervous. After the visit, we had emailed Dr. Casale many times to which he responded back quickly and completely answered any questions. We chose him to perform a robotic reimplant of the ureters. The procedure was completed in an hour. We stayed overnight and our little baby girl looked so great the next day that we went home in the morning! 6 months later the ultrasound looks great. The scars are really small and already starting to shrink. What an amazing experience for such a scary situation. Dr. Casale made us feel like we… were his only patient even though we knew this isn't the case because it took 3 months to get in to see him. He was definitely worth the wait. We are thankful everyday that we found Dr. Casale! He and his team are just amazing!

We came to see Dr. Casale for my son's varicocele. He was our third opinion after two other surgeons and our pediatrician recommended surgery. Dr. Casale explained how a varicocele should be treated based on current research and the need for a semen analysis prior to any surgery. When we first saw him, our son was 13 years old so a semen analysis was not possible even though the differences in the testicles was already 30%. Dr. Casale explained how the difference can improve through puberty without surgery at the same rate as surgery. After the first year, the difference was even more but Dr. Casale said to sit tight. We were nervous but we trusted him so we did, and now that my son is almost 18 years old the testicles are within 10% of each other and he has a normal semen analysis WITHOUT SURGERY!!! Thank goodness for Dr. Casale's excellent patience and bedside manner. The other doctors including our pediatrician told us we needed to do surgery even when he was 16 years old… because the difference was more than 20% or else he would be infertile. Don't trust any Pediatric Urologist until you ask Dr. Casale for his opinion, ESPECIALLY if the surgeon tells you that surgery is needed right away.

misdiagnosed . said son did not need surgery. went back follow up for 3 years each time he reassured me no surgery needed. my pediatrician had enough he sent me elsewhere for 2nd opinion. 2nd Dr. said this should have been operated on already. dont wait

My son has pediatric kidney stones, something we knew nothing about when he was first diagnosed. After two failed surgeries to remove his large, adult size stone, we realized our doctor who came highly recommended from everyone we knew (parents as well as doctors and nurses in Long Island) had no idea how to successfully remove his stone. Every other pediatric urologist in the area would not touch him because they did not know how to help him. We started cold calling every specialist and childrens hospital on the east coast. We finally found an extremely helpful doctor at CHOP who sent us to his former coworker who had just relocated to NYC. That is when we met with dr. Casale. We were told we were facing a very painful, invasive kidney surgery. Dr. Casale performed a minimally invasive surgery that successfully remoed his stone with very minimal pain. We have continued to see him for the past two years and we have only WONDERFUL things to say.
