Dr. Patricia Marie Abbott, MD

Our child was hospitalized and unfortunately wound up in Abbott's hands. Even after two weeks, she had failed to get ANY records from previous hopsitals or to work in any way with the outpatient team of four professionals who regularly see our child. She refused to work with a doctor at the same hospital who had seen our child previously or to get a second opinion.She administred high-levels of medication without our knowledge or consent, keeping our child heavily sedated on adults levels of three drugs; then, she said we were to blame for our child's illness because she wasn't having extreme outbursts on the ward. Nonetheless, she kept our child in the hospital for three weeks until the insurance money ran out - even though Abbott couldn't tell us about any course of treatment that justified our child's lengthy stay.We found her to be an extremely poor listener. When we asked her questions about our child, she didn't (or couldn't) answer them, and instead recited her medical school… credentials. When we continued to ask questions, she told us she would call child protective services to tell them that our child's mental illness was our fault. Frankly, I would avoid any hospital where she works on the off-chance you might get stuck with her.

Dr. Abbott has the healthcare continuum order backwards. Good medicine should be like a line of dominoes, diagnose a problem (if any) plan interventions, decide whether patient needs to be admitted. Unfortunately, Dr. Abbott plans the admittance first, and finds a diagnosis with almost no research or observance in order to create codes to justify a lengthy admission. Then depending on the patients insurance, will search for more reasons to dip into the "insurance pool"
