After seeing many therapists who just wanted to give me pills and then up the dosage when they didn't seem to work, Dr. Kent was a surprise to me. After my 2nd appt. I actually asked if she would prescribe something for me and she said NO. Not until I had tried all the other coping methods she gave me first. Among these was exercise, and getting a decent night's sleep. I liked that she wasn't a pill pusher and seems to already know me well after only a few visits.

From the first time of spoke with Dr. Kent her compassion for providing meaningful and caring health services was obvious. I feel lucky to have found such a remarkably talented and kind doctor.

If you are seeking a psychiatrist you are seeking help. Admitting you need help is a huge step to begin with and there are many different ways to go about getting that help. Seeing Dr. Patricia Kent is not one of them. The reason people go to doctors is because they are trained in advanced sciences and medicine to diagnose problems and figure out THE best solution and treatment plan for those problems. We trust that a "degree" means you are qualified to help and posses knowledge that I do not. And in a field like psychiatry with the level of risk you are taking with the medications prescribed you want to know that your doctor knows what she is talking about. Well, Dr. Kent's knowledge is pretty much limited to what the pharmaceutical company reps told her to sell their drugs. Ask any detailed question into the specific chemical interactions with the brain, the science behind the drugs, the safety and all you will get is a basic " well it brings your mood up, or down, or stable..." with… no real reassurance that she knows what she is talking about through her OWN research. I once asked her if she keeps up with new studies about these drugs or into alternative therapies and she almost seemed contented with admitting she did not. I can't believe I ever thought I needed help from someone like this. Do yourself a favor, eat better, exercise more, get more sunshine and fresh air, drink plenty of water, and get good rest. You will feel a thousand times better from that then from any garbage drug Dr. Kent will lackadaisically prescribe you. People who often work in these fields are exposed to so many peoples problems and depressions that they often become worn out and depressed themselves. That's how Dr. Kent comes across, old, worn out, depressed, ignorant, and the only answer you will get if you are not improving is " I will up your prescription. " or " I will add another drug to your prescription." Don't waste your time or your money. You deserve REAL help.

After seeing another psychiatrist, Dr. Kent was a wonderful relief, providing both therapy and medication management that was beneficial and healing. I would recommend this caring and professional physician to anyone looking to make their peace with troubling anxieties or problems with mood swings. The other reviewer on this website didn't seem to understand the star system, as they gave a great review for the individual elements, but got confused as to the overall rating.
