I still am in shock at the kind of service this doctor and her office provided me. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. The staff was friendly enough, but most of them seemed at best, distracted, and at worst, inept. The doctor herself asked me the same question three times during my visit, and for most of our conversation, her eyes were on her laptop screen. You should also know the office is very loud because they leave the patient's doors open (huge violation of patient privacy.)
Oh, and this is important: When I went to the desk to turn in my new-patient paperwork, I caught a brief glance of the male receptionist's cellphone on his workstation, which had a picture of a half naked girl on it.
I should have turned around, and walked out at that point.
Sadly, I did not, and I will now give you the opportunity to read through the rest of my experience.
I went in for a check up, needing bloodwork and a referral to a dermatologist. When the doctor finally came in to talk with… me, she did not even address the concerns that had brought me there in the first place. Instead, she started talking about my weight, also a concern for me, but certainly not my only one. When the phlebotomist came in to draw my blood, Dr. Roberts-Harris interrupted herself in the middle of her own sentence, and left the room. I assumed she would come back after my blood was drawn, so we could continue my checkup (because she literally hadn't asked me any questions, or done anything except talk about my diet). However, after the blood was taken, I was shown out of the office, and asked to make a follow up appointment. When I pointed out the doctor had not given me the referral I asked for, the receptionist said she would get the information and call me back. That did not happen. I called a week later, asking if I could please have my referral because I was concerned about a spot on my arm, and was told they couldn't give that to me until my blood work came in... The referral was for a dermatologist, so I don't know what blood work had to do with it. But, I accepted their answer, and decided to ask again at my follow up.
When I arrived for my follow up appointment, I was given an allergy test. When that was done, the nurse tried to show me out of the office again. I told them, I still needed to speak with the doctor about the results of my blood test and my referral. However, 30 minutes later, after waiting for the doctor, and watching her try to locate the record of my blood test, I was told "the carrier" had lost my blood... WHAT?!? I couldn't quite process that. I should have asked them why they hadn't called to tell me that? Why was I only finding out then? Would they even have told me, or were they intentionally trying to hurry me out of the office to cover their mistake? I was told they could not take my blood that day, because their phlebotomist was out, and I would have to come in for a THIRD appointment. I was so in shock that I did not even argue, and made the appointment.
During that follow up appointment, I also informed them I needed a UTI test. I told them this at the beginning of my appointment. By the end of it, they still hadn't taken my urine. I let the doctor know, and she went to the technician and asked him for a cup, while he was IN THE MIDDLE of taking another patient's blood. He complained, asking me why I had waited so long to tell him (when he was the one I told at the beginning of my appointment!) Nevertheless, I got the test done, and was told to expect my results on Monday. Monday afternoon, I called them to inquire about my results. I was told they would have them Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, I called, and was told they were really busy because it was "Patient's Day" (but, I am also a patient, so . . . ?), and that they would call me back. I called again, before they left the office, and was told again how busy they were, and they asked if they could call me on Wednesday morning. This is when I lost my patience. I informed them that first, they lost my blood, and now they had put off giving me the results of my urine test for not one, but two extra days. After that, the receptionist called me back an hour later saying the antibiotic had been called in. I don't even have confidence they spoke with the lab, I bet the doctor just wrote it for some random antibiotic so I would stop calling.
After I got my antibiotic, I canceled my third appointment. I don't care what hoops I have to jump through to get another doctor, I am NEVER returning to this office. My experience here was appalling, and felt very much like a surreal, fever dream/nightmare. I don't know how they stay in business here, but their lack of regard for patient concerns is downright dangerous. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE.
