Dr. Patricia Shih-Ting Tsai, MD

I was referred to their office after ER visit . The office staff are rude and completely incompetent . They do not return calls or respond to questions . If the doctor is any good it is certainly overshadowed by the overall lack of professionalism . I left after one visit and reported them to Hoag.

Hard to even make an appointment. The front desk operation does not represent the actual Doctor. Not sure why so inefficient and uncaring. They make me feel very uneasy and I have been going there for years. Nothing changes.

I had a CT scan done 3 weeks ago. No one has called me with results. I have tried to call to schedule an appt to get my results for 3 business days in a row now and the recording states that the office is closed. How can any legitmate physician be "closed" on Friday, Monday and Tuesday?? In addition, I concur with the other reviews that the office staff both front and back are not knowledgeable and disorganized with little to no personality. I am VERY disappointed to say the least in the care that I have received or better yet, not received. Side note: Dr. Tsai herself is pleasant, took time with me and seemed to order thorough tests but what good is that when no one follows up with you regarding your results AND you cannot ever get a hold of the office to schedule an appt?! I expect better, especially in the Hoag network.

Dr. Tsai has significantly helped both my sister and me. I had trouble swallowing and finally was unable to swallow even a capsule when I got an appointment with her. I'd often told doctors about my trouble swallowing as it had started 20 years ago and gradually gotten worse, and finally a physician's assistant got excited about it and sent me to a gastroenterologist. I went to Dr. Tsai because my sister had been helped significantly by her. Dr. Tsai knew what I needed and set up the appointment for an esophagus exploration. When she performed it, the camera was not easily threaded through my esophagus, but Dr. Tsai kept working with it until she was successful, and stretched my esophagus so I could swallow again. I can even eat meat! That was 3 years ago. She follows up with me and when I ask questions, she explains so that I can understand. I had no idea I had gastric reflux syndrome, because I seldom got heartburn, but I do. With medication to help my stomach not produce… too much acid, and with Dr. Tsai keeping an eye on my esophagus, I am able to eat normal foods again instead of having to eat just cooked-cereal-consistency foods. I appreciate Dr. Tsai's work with me very much. I'm glad to have such an excellent doctor.

I was treated by this doctor recently. When you do colonoscopy, you was put to sleep completely, therefore, I can't tell how good or bad she is during that procedure. However, this doctor has tricked me to do that procedure! She told me my insurance will pay for it. She didn't mention that I have to pay a copay. A big amount to me. On the appoint date, I have no other choice but agree to pay the bill. If I cancel the appointment, she will charge me a cancelation fee with the amount almost the same as the copay bill! Later on, I call her office for a copy of my result. Her Chinese receptionist told me:" Doctor Tsai will charge you 50 cents for every page of your result. And we don't mail it. You will have to come to our office to pick it up". She is a doctor for money, not for patients. I doubt that she still remember what she sweared in the medical school before graduation.

I had a procedure done last year, Dr. said every things were okay. The office did not call me for the follow up. Until this year I got the letter in the mail notifying that I need to call in for the follow up.On the date of follow-up doctor said she found some abnormal cells (for the entire year without notice?), I have to check back for another procedure.I am so frustrated and will make sure I have a follow up this time. Hope the result come out good. MAKE SURE YOU CALL FOR THE FOLLOW UP,Seems like nobody really care anymore except yourself.

OFFICE STAFFS ARE NOT PROFETIONAL AND EXPERIENCED, AND SOME HAVE VERY LIMITED ENGLISH AND MAKE THE VISIT OR MAKING APPOINTMENT VERY STRESSFUL.

Most of the office staff was quite rude. That an Dr Tsia's habit of always seeming incredibly rushed are the main reasons I will not be going back to this office. I was having abnormal chronic pain for months and they treated me like I was a burden on them. This is not what someone who is sick wants to deal with when trying to search for what is wrong with them.

The nicest, most helpful and patient Dr. I've ever met and I've been to a lot of Docs. Most Dr.'s make you feel rushed or just don't listen. It was nice to have an actual conversation and given the respect a patient deserves. Very sympathetic and professional. Takes great notes, gives you follow-up reports on the spot and is very technically inclined with office administration. Very nice front desk admin too. I'm grateful that Dr.'s like this still exist.

I went to Doctor Tsai for my second opinion and am so glad I did.She is caring, attentive, asks lots of questions and with her amazing knowledge and experience makes you feel confident about addressing your health issues. Plus being a woman it is more comfortable to deal with a female doctor as well.I also like the fact that she takes all of her notes electronically and gives you a report the minute your visit is finished.If you have GI issues this is the doctor to see- you will be happy you made that choice.
