Dr. Patricia A Wardius, DDS

I would avoid both Wardius and the practice she works for, Absolute Dental in Virginia Beach, at all costs. She filled a tooth of mine and it and the teeth near it developed an extreme sensitivity to cold. I mentioned this on the follow up and she was completely dismissive of my concerns. She basically said I should I just suck it up and it would probably go away on its own. I resolved to find a new dentist but I unfortunately I let her convince me I should just ignore the pain which I did until I couldn't any more. This weekend the whole side of my face started throbbing at random intervals and thanks to a friends referral I found a competent dentist who actually listened to me. They did an X-ray and found a dark patch under the tooth that I'd complained to her about. It's not yet clear what's going on but I'm now in considerable pain until I can get in to see a specialist next week and I'm very likely looking at a root canal. Beyond basic competence the most important thing in a… medical professional is that they treat you with some basic level of respect. I very much doubt her basic competence I’m certain that I wasn’t treated with respect. Doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals who dismiss what their patients say can do real damage and when you get right down to it are gambling with their patients’ health and even lives. I suppose that I’m lucky in that in my case what Wardius ignored, while extremely painful, isn’t life threatening and is still treatable. But I shudder to think what might happen if she ignores someone else’s complaints who has something that isn’t treatable if ignored. Don’t take that gamble; avoid this dentist at all costs.

This dentist is a crook! After trying to strong arm me into a periodontal treatment that I refused she then told me I need two caps at a cost of about $3,000.00! I went to another dentist who uses state of the art x-ray imaging and he told me I did NOT have a problem with my gums and certainly did NOT need old filling removed or caps placed. Patricia Wardius is just out to make all the money she can. If they suggest expensive treatment, PLEASE seek a second opinion before proceeding.
