Dr. Patricia Wong, MD

Dr. Wong has taken care of several of my family members. She is caring, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to make sure her patients receive excellent care . I refer all my close family and friends to her and recommend her without reservation.

Dr. Wong has a very calm demeanor coupled with a command of medicine. I was expecting to have some anxiety but she is really one of those people who make you feel safe and cared for with her authenticity. My colonoscopy was completely painless and I was ready to go home in less than an hour. She was so thorough and all of my results were instantly available. She even encouraged me to get an additional test done bc of what she read about family history in my chart. I recommend her to anyone who is supposed to get this procedure.

Dr. Wong is amazing. She always treats me well and took care of my GI issues. She was kind and took time to help me understand what was happening to my insides. Before seeing Dr. Wong, no one else could help me. I could barely eat and my stomach was a wreck. Now I feeling great! Thank you, Dr. Wong

Dr.Wong is an incredible doctor. She is caring, spends a lot of time listening, and got my symptoms under control after many other gi’s could not. Best GI doctor out there.

The Bad: My mother had a colonscopy done by Dr. Patricia Wong, at Lankenau Hospital. Dr. Wong had terrible bedside manners. She came in wearing Friday dress down / street clothes. I asked her if she had planned on changing her clothes? She said, “Not unless you brought me some”! I thought, Wow! I didn’t say anything negative in response because she still had to perform the colonoscopy procedure on my mom. She did eventually say that she will have a scrub gown on by the time she starts the procedure on my mom. The initial smart comment was unnecessary. I work in a hospital and when I had my colonoscopy and any time I have witnessed someone going for a procedure, the physician is already in scrubs when they come see the pt in the holding area or prep area. Once the procedure was over, she told my mom that everything was fine. Her colonoscopy was normal. No polyps. However, she totally failed to mention anything about the diagnosis that she wrote on the discharge papers,… which read ”diverticulosis in the sigmoid colon”. So when I inquired about her coming back to explain that, the nurse or tech said Dr Wong had already started a procedure on her next pt. So, only because we asked about the diagnosis, we were given a computer print out of what diverticulosis is. My mom could have went online and found that information herself. One of a physician’s main responsibilities is to explain a diagnosis. Also, Dr Wong was talking to my mom while she was still heavily sedated / just wheeled out from the procedure. Where I work, the doctors wait until you have recovered and can comprehend well before attempting to tell you whether your test is normal or abnormal! A physician should give a pt time to read the discharge paperwork and then see if the pt has questions before the physician runs off and becomes unavailable. I would never refer anyone to Dr. Patricia Wong! She needs to take a Bedside Manners 101 class! The Good: The Lankenau Hosp staff (male anesthesiologist, nurses, and techs) were all personable people / great bedside manners.

My last GI doc was very dismissive of my concerns and took 3 weeks to get back to me (even with my primary doctor's calls!) - so I researched Dr. Wong and was impresses with her credentials. I was not disappointed, Dr. Wong was wonderful. She listened to my concerns, pulled up my colonoscopy procedure images on the screen and showed me exactly what the issue was and how she would address it. I left feeling very confident that during my upcoming procedure, all of the pre-cancerous lesions will be removed. The staff was also professional and courteous. I see two negative reviews and it's a shame that people post things that very well may be THIER personality issues, and not a reflection on this doctor at all.

Don't let her niceness at the procedure fool you. After the procedure she is very rude and won't you get a word in. Most horrible experience with a doctor.

Dr. Wong is an excellent physician who is not only knowledgeable, but truly cares about her patients. Her educational background is impressive, yet she remains incredibly down to earth and approachable. She spends an enormous amount of time with patients in the office, unlike many doctors these days, and communicates very clearly. She is a rare find.

UNBELIEVABLE! Knowledgeable, courteous, professional!!

I have an unusual combination of GI issues, especially for my age, and Dr. Wong has handled them excellently. After my GI at Temple University Hospital retired I was very concerned about receiving the unique treatment I require. She was recommended by my GP and I couldn't be happier. She was able to get me into a special FDA program that allows me to get the medicine I need despite not being available by prescription generally, her wonderful staff took care of all the applications and necessary paperwork that quite frankly would have left m so frustrated I would have probably never finished it without their assistance. Dr. Wong takes the time to sit with me and explain the progress of my conditions ensuring I don't leave her office until I fully understand everything. She even noticed an issue unrelated to my GI concerns and called upstairs to the infectious disease department and had them see me immediately. By doing so she caught a major illness early enough that it certainly saved… me a hospital stay maybe even my life by getting me the treatment I needed before something got out of control. Absolutely one of the best doctors I have ever had. (and I've had scores of doctors having been seriously ill for many years)
