Dr. Dillon was exceptional in his interest not only in my medical case but took the time to know me as a person. Despite what must be a very busy schedule, he never made me feel rushed. His compilation of the case from start to present brought all of the medical pieces together and his proposals for treatment not only gave me agency over the decisions but also provided in depth analysis of how each choice was determined and the pros and cons of each. He made complex analysis understandable to a non-medical person. UVA is most fortunate to have such a skilled and intelligent physician on its staff.

Everything possible until other scans, blood work, etc. was great. Dr Dillon was very understanding and open.

I felt the answers that was given to me could have been given in more depth and clarification.

Dr Dillion was very reassuring that whatever the outcome from my procedure in 2 weeks there is a plan to take care of me. He said we will get through it together. This made my husband and me feel very grateful to have such a wonderful team on our side Recommend them highly.

If you are newly diagnosed, I suggest you look elsewhere if you're hoping for (or expecting) an oncologist that cares enough to try to catch recurrence/metastasis early - I wish I had. Dr. Dillon dismissed my reports of ongoing unintentional weight loss, abdominal pain, and night sweats, repeatedly. It was only after I wrote a letter detailing my concerns with the quality of care I received at UVA Breast Cancer Center that he offered to do some testing; however, he stated in that call that he "found it disappointing that it fell to him." If it's not the role of an oncologist to monitor for metastasis, recurrence, or new cancers in their oncology patients, then what, exactly, is the function of the oncologist on the care team if chemo is not recommended? Why even have an oncologist? What is the point of expensive copays for specialist follow up visits? I sincerely believe he does not care if I live or die, as long as it doesn't inconvenience him.
