Dr. Patrick Allen Honaker, MD

I should have written this review three years ago. He was new (1-2 years) to prescribing Suboxone and the ONLY reason I continued to see him, even though he had absolutely no concern for what I had to say, was because he was the only doctor in Florence prescribing Suboxone that accepted insurance. I had recently moved to this city and had been on a very low, maintenance level for several years. I held a full-time job and was functioning well. From our first visit, all he wanted to do was get me off of the med so he could claim that he cured someone of their addiction. Yes, he actually used to word "cured". I repeatedly told him that I wasn't comfortable with the idea of coming off of the medicine but went along with it because I didn't have much choice. Even though I tested positive on my last appointment with him, he brushed it off and claimed me as a success story. Even his nurse said that I was the first patient to "successfully" come off the medicine. He was cold and uncaring. He… would spend less than 5 minutes with me during every appointment - long enough to write the prescription. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. In retrospect, I should have probably gone to someone else, even though that meant paying out of pocket. Or, make the hour plus trip to Columbia to find a doctor who takes insurance.

I had never had a doctor ask my wife to leave the room when discussing a medical condition. After the shock wore off I asked him why, his response was that sometimes there are secrets. I wish I would have had the presence of mind to have confronted him earlier on this. I found him much less interested in discussing my pain and much more interested in discussing my medications. I find him difficult at best. I would not recommend him.

Dr. Patrick A Honaker is the man for the job . I had many spinnal injections over the years. MUSC Charlestion SC .McLoud Pain Management Day Hospital CHS Florence SC . The most relief from chronic back pain for longest period of time came from epidurals received by : Dr Patrick Honaker in 2013 and 2014 . Thanks Doc.
