Dr. Patrick K Kelley, MD

Dr. Patrick K Kelly is very abusive in nature. Form my direct experience he has no problem reading my chart aloud by dancing around the surgical emergency center, falsifying documentation, did not examine me to find that I had a reaction to steroid medication (which I found out after seeing him) that I can not take, not following up but discharged me with a note to continue taking the steroid medication. Another doctor examined me afterwards and removed me from the medication since it had dropped my potassium well below safe level. Dr. Kelly had the same information, but did not care.

Absolutely incredible post-op results of a major cranial surgery. There was a warming level of comfort meeting and working with Dr. Kelley. The only hesitation that emerged was immediately following the surgery since I form keloids (raised scars), and for the first time in my life I did not form a keloid. This is especially important because the scarring is on my face. Dr. Kelley is precise and careful — feel comfortable and confident knowing that you are in gentle hands.

I am not one who usually writes reviews on doctor's offices being a nurse I get it. But, this morning I have had one of the worst experiences ever with a clinic. Dr. Patrick Kelley's (craniofacial surgeon) plagiocephaly clinic. Let me start of with I have a 5 month old who has diagnosed with Torticollis (stiff neck) and as a result had developed plagiocephaly (he has a flat spot on his head). I was referred here by my physical therapist (who we love) because this is the only clinic in the Austin area that treats this unless you want to go to Cranial Technologies which is a company that makes helmets for babies to help correct plagiocephaly but they are not doctors. We took our son here to get a professional opinion on if we should get the helmet (which most insurances do not cover because they deem it cosmetic). I called and made an appointment with Dr. Kelley and they were able to get us in pretty quickly so I thought great this place might not be so bad (according to reviews… read on various sites). We check in this morning and was told that the visit would be billed to the insurance company because since the way they are set up you get billed by the physician and the facility. I was not told this when I made the appointment so I figured it was our Specialist copay which $50. Apparently not this office bills also a facility charge which goes towards your deductible. My husband and I were frustrated and mad but still went through with the appointment trying to get the answers we were there for. The office manager came in to talk to us because she heard we were mad (she was very nice and understanding). We were then told that a PA was going to come in and look at our son. Which is fine by me but I also expected to see the physician after that initial evaluation because I made the appointment with the doctor and was confirmed twice on separate occasions that our appointment was with Dr. Kelley. So the PA came in and started looking at our son and did not say anything that we did not know already but then proceeded to tell us that he does recommend that he see Dr. Kelley and Dr. Harshbarger for evaluation to determine if he needs a head CT to figure out if his skulls are all fused together or not. I then asked so he is not seeing Dr. Kelley today and the PA informed me No. I told the PA I made the appointment to see Dr. Kelley and was confirmed to see Dr. Kelley today. All the PA said was sorry. So basically they want us to pay another copay plus facility fee to determine if he needs a CT and then come back again after that to get all the results. This whole office was a joke and are just out to get as much money as they can people and the mislead patients about what is going to happen at their appointments. I will not being going back EVER!! If I need to take my son to a craniofacial surgeon I will be driving to Fort Worth so that I know he will be taken care of properly!!!

Saved my life

I have a two yr old toddler who was reluctant to have his weight taken, let alone the exam done. Dr Kelley was kind, gentle, and patient with my son. He made my son comfortable and even got my son to laugh as he examined him. He was receptive to my questions which set my mind at ease. Dr Kelley suggested sending the pics of the lesion to a dermatologist before proceeding as we had only seen the pediatrician beforehand. After following up we found out the lesions were not cancerous and only cosmetic. Highly recommend Dr Kelley and his staff based off our experience with them.

My husband and I brought our daughter to Dr. Patrick Kelley's Craniofacial Surgery clinic to evaluate plagiocephaly resulting from torticollis. Their diagnostic tools were primitive (no diagnostic measurements were taken outside of head circumference which tells you nothing), they lost her medical records (and instead showed us photos of several other patients until they could visually identify hers), and ultimately declined to render a professional recommendation because the condition is "cosmetic". Once the photos were found (after our appointment), they emailed them to us, and we did not have the benefit of reviewing them with the surgeon or even physician's assistant to help facilitate our decision for more aggressive intervention. It was a complete waste of time & money, and we still are lost as to the best course of treatment for our doctor (and time has now run out....). I intend to file a complaint with the Texas Medical Board and HIPAA. If you are considering seeing a… professional about your child's plagiocephaly, don't waste your time at Dr. Kelly's clinic. His clinic does not meet the expectations you would expect out of Dell Children's Hospital.

Excellent! Great bedside manner. Very thorough. Surgery went totally as expected. Perfect that they work as with the TEAM Approach. Therefore they know the Doctors working with them during the surgery.

The care of our son in the Dell Medical Center by Dr Kelley was good, though he was a little curt and was quick to delegate to other doctors. But overall, the care while in the hospital was excellent. However, our experiences going to Dr. Kelley's office in the Strictly Pediatrics medical building were very poor. Their office staff and general scheduling practices are horrible. Do not go to their office if you can avoid it, and if you do, show up and hour before your appointment time.- When I called for an appointment, the clerk could not find my son in their system, and I spent 10 minutes on the phone while she aimlessly searched. She then told me she would call me back to make the appointment, she never did. She then made the appointment without calling me back or consulting me. I didnt know we had the appointment until I got a confirmation call the next day.- I was 15 minutes early for our first appointment, and did not see a doctor until almost 2 hours past our scheduled… appointment. Then, we didnt see doctor Kelley, but a doctor who had no idea about my sons history. It was 2 hours to see a doctor for 5 minutes, 4 of which were spent explaining why we were there.- Our sons second appointment was early morning and we arrived 30 minutes early, and he was still not seen by a doctor until 45 minutes past our scheduled time. This was again for a less than 5 minutes appointment (and that was completely unneeded).- They require you to resubmit your insurance information every visit. We have had dealings with hundreds of doctors over the years, none have had such draconian practices when it comes to insurance.While I beleive the medical staff are good, they are overshaddowed by such incompetents in the front office.
