Patrick David Kelly, MD

I cannot recommend Dr. Patrick Kelly based on my experience. I spent nearly two years under his care seeking answers for complex neurological symptoms that got progressively worse. At my very first appointment, my symptoms were characterized as psychological rather than being thoroughly investigated. That characterization later affected my care during an emergency room visit. I was informed that Dr. Kelly's notated my symptoms were considered a somatic/psychological episode, which influenced how my condition was viewed during that ER visit. I was losing function and feeling in my limbs and struggling to swallow, yet was sent home anyways. Instead of receiving answers, I experienced further delays in obtaining an appropriate evaluation while my condition continued to decline. I repeatedly expressed concerns about craniocervical/cervical instability, yet I never received a meaningful evaluation for that condition or appropriate referral/guidance to a provider who specializes in it. One… of the most frustrating parts of my experience has been the referral process. Although my understanding was that I needed a CCI workup, my referral to Mayo Clinic was submitted for a pineal cyst rather than CCI. I have since been left in silence, leaving the original referral uncorrected and unupdated, requiring me to begin the referral process again. The cumulative result has been nearly two years of delays while my health continued to deteriorate. During that time, I lost significant function, became largely homebound/bedbound, and ultimately had to seek care from other physicians who would take the time to listen and evaluate my health concerns in Florida. I am sharing this review so that other patients with complex neurological conditions can make informed decisions. Patients deserve to have their concerns taken seriously, receive accurate referrals, and have their care coordinated appropriately. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Dr. Kelly is the best of the best. My wife was sent to vanderbilt due to a brain tumor. DR KELLY was so polite at a time of uncertainty in our lives. He performed surgery on my wife a lil over a week later. He was very straight Foward and explained everything that was going on on what to expect from the day he meet with her all the way through her follow up appointments. I could not imagine having anyone other than Dr. Kelly.

Dr. Kelly is wonderful. I was referred to Vanderbilt by another doctor who had performed 2 previous nasal/brain surgeries. After both, I ended up with a cerebrospinal leak. Dr. Kelly was so comforting and reassuring when I was told I’d need 2 additional surgeries. He is a wonderful physician and excellent surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Kelly was very friendly and attentive. He was very thorough with his exam. Dr. Kelly showed patience with my elderly father.
