Dr. Patrick Sean Kelly

My child had surgery with Dr. Kelly to remove and/or expose several teeth, including wisdom teeth, on Friday 6.9.23. We never received an aftercare packet from Dr. Kelly's office. We never received a post-op check-in call to make sure my child was doing ok. We were never scheduled for a post-op appointment to check the healing process. Any of these services would have most likely alerted us that the healing process was not occurring as it normally should. On Thursday (6.15.23) afternoon my child's pain took a sharp turn for the worse. I called Dr. Kelly's office at 3:30 pm. They close at 4:30. We were unable to make it before they closed and they were unwilling to stay open late for us. We agreed to an 8 am appointment the following day, Friday 6.16.23. On Friday 6.16.23 Dr. Kelly's office saw us at 8am. They asked my child where the pain was in his mouth. According to my child, they irrigated the area he pointed out, put in a piece of gauze, and sent him on his way in less than 20… minutes. They did not speak to me (the parent of this minor.) I do not know if the doctor examined him. By Friday evening my child's pain was worse. Again, Dr. Kelly's office was closed. It appears the office only stays open to perform surgeries for the day, and then promptly closes. It is extremely difficult for a working parent to work with these hours. If surgery does not go perfectly care is extremely difficult to access, and the office is not taking steps to ensure that surgery does go perfectly. Friday evening (5 pm) we were able to make an appointment with another dental office to get my child care before everything was closed for the weekend. We saw a different dental office. They treated my child by numbing his mouth with injections. They then irrigated all unhealed areas. They explained to him that he would basically be starting the healing process all over again, and gave him the postop instructions we should have received from Dr. Kelly's office. They also ended up inserting stitches and giving my child a prescription mouthwash. I am of the belief that this is what should have happened at Dr. Kelly's office that very same morning when they were given another opportunity to correctly care for my child. It is now Monday 6.19.23. I reached out to Dr. Kelly's office again because my child now has an infection on the lower right side that developed over the weekend. My child cannot miss any more work because he is now in danger of losing his job from missing all of last week. I called Dr. Kelly's office and requested an appointment and another round of antibiotics to begin dealing with the infection. The office is again closed early tomorrow, I requested an appointment at 2 PM and was denied. The office did immediately call in a prescription for amoxicillin. My child's father and I are concerned because he just finished a prescription for amoxicillin and it did not handle the infection. We are again reaching out to a different office for follow-up treatment, and a second opinion because we are not receiving adequate care. We are going back to the provider that gave excellent emergency care last Friday. I am opening this complaint with the Attorney General's office as Dr. Kelly's office was compensated in full for surgical care. At this point, we have sustained losses in income and expenses from having to receive outside follow-up care. We would like to be made whole. I will submit receipts and claims for lost wages once this issue is fully resolved. Further, I would like refunded for all portions of the premium that we paid to Dr. Kelly's office that were for postoperative care and preoperative consultation, as we did not receive adequate postop instructions.
