Dr. Paul Lea Axtell, MD

Not impressed, went a few months ago to see him (his PA) with severe elbow pain. I was given an injection and anti inflammatory mess, no improvement in fact pain fot worse. I went back and was told I would see Dr. Axtell and I did not, I was back with his PA, i was told nothing was wrong i just had tennis elbow, refuses to take an x ray just gave me a brace and told me to wear it. I still had no improvement and again the pain was worse. Decided to see a different orthopedic out of Rochester who ordered an MRI come to find out i have a high grade tear of my exterior tendon in my elbow, which means 70% of my tendon is torn. Thanks for nothing Dr. Axtell. Had he taken the time and did further testing instead of blowing me off i would be on my way to recovery, but 7 1/2 months sense i went to him, and then getting into a different orthopedic im now at the level of scheduling surgery. I had a hip replacement done two weeks ago. Dr, Axtell is a excellent surgeon. His staff are also very caring and professional. He could improve on his bedside manners.

Everyone was nice but if you have something seriously wrong go elsewhere! My son has a broken clavicle, (three weeks post break) we go in for a follow up to see how its healing. He looks at it and says your good to go 100% . What a joke we could have said that. No x-ray to see healing progress, no exercises to do......nothing. Just go 100% your good to go. Sorry Doc but if he could go 100% he'd be able to rotate his arm

Dr. Axtellruined my life by botching3 surgeries. My arm has undergone 8 total surgeries and almost an amputation in attempts to correct. Worst mistake I've ever made.was this man.

BEWARE.After sending all my medical information to Dr Axtell's office( from Florida where I now reside) and being told by Dr's Axtell's office that he would be able to help me with my orthopedic NY's worker compensation disability, I made an appointment to be seen by Dr Axtell in Wellsville NY in May 2017 , my only purpose for this visit to NY was to be seen by Dr Axtell. I was seen at Dr Axtell's office in Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville NY in May. I then returned to Florida and after several weeks of waiting for a response on my medical situation I was told by Dr Axtell, himself, that he could not help me with my situation, Dr Axtell made me make a trip to NY for no other reason but to make money on my appointment, he NOW tells me that he can not help me, very incompetent, beware.

Dr. Axtell had confirmed my hesitation for one additional surgery and three injections recommended by another physician. The outcome was going to be the same regardless. I elected to skip the intermediate treatments and Dr. Axtell performed my knee replacement without any complications. He and his staff are professional yet personable. I am planning my other knee replacement in the near future. Thank you Dr. Axtell and staff.

My grandson broke his arm several years ago in his growth plate in the elbow. Dr axtell saw him late in the day xrays done cast applied everything will be OK. Several weeks latter cast removed arm has deformity Dr says conscious sedation and manipulation will fix. No fix should have had surgery he is 22 now and Still has that deformity in his arm. His mother took him to children's in Buffalo shortly after cast removal stated to high risk to rebreak arm and do it right. No I wouldn't try my luck twice he compared his arm to my grandsons he has an injury to one of his

My mother broke her hip an he preformed the surgery and now she has to go to a specialist and have it done again.
