Dr. Paul Andrew Babey

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Babey for over fourteen years. He is a great doctor! I like his direct approach and listens! His whole office is wonderful. The staff is very competent and caring. They always are very welcoming as if I am visiting old friends.

I was referred to him by a friend. He is attentive and spends time with me. I have a complicated medical history and he is always prepared with my latest labs and reports from hospitalizations when I see him.

I am a white male in excellent health, run marathons, workout daily, not a person who has any major health issues. The only medicine I take i is Lisiniprill for elevated blood pressure. So I went to see Dr. Babey at North Scottsdale Family Medicine (NSFM) to get my prescription filled, which he did but for Only 6 months, which I did not realize until my pharmacy informed me of this. Now this is the first doctor in 15 years who has required me to come back in just 180 days to refill a prescription. The reason being is that they can charge you another $150 for an appointment. In fact NSFM wanted me to come in every 3-6 months to get the prescription refilled. Resulting in $150 to $450 in additional revenue for them. NSFM is a "Churn to Earn" practice! I want to share with you my refill experience with Dr. Babey. First of all the staff seems grumpy and rude. I arrived early for my appointment and the first thing they ask for is money upfront for your co pay, apparently they… don't trust you for the $30. I waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes or 20 minutes past appointment until brought back to see the doctor. Dr. Babey spent approximately 4 minutes with me, never asked me anything, but only told me they were going to take blood for lab tests as my cholesterol was slightly elevated at the previous test, I was completely unaware they were going to lab tests as I did not fast, because having caffeine and other things can elevate your cholestoral making the test inaccurate. He escorted me back to the lab area where I waited until it was approximately 60 minutes into my office visit. I left before the test because I had another appointment. Later I called NSFM to voice my complaints about service and unacceptable treatment practices. I was surprised that Dr. Babey would not call his patient back but instead had one of the office patsies make the call. Although Dr. Babey never really asks you much but TELLS you what you need and how much he will charge you for it. The business patsie called me back about my complaint and was VERY rude and combative. Now I used to be a Treasurer for a large healthcare company so I do know a little bit about healthcare customer service, and this person has no clue what that means. I requested a refund for the $150 in charges since no service was rendered and they refused. It did not cost them anything to not charge me since there was nothing done. I expected to have my prescription filled but came away with nothing but aggravation and being ripped off! They said I was too demanding!! I guess asking for the service to be performed they consider demanding. Talking with other doctors about NSFM not refunding my fee, they were very surprised as they would have done so without a problem. I will probably have to go to court and have the judge decide wether NSFM provided any service to me. I certainly did not get what I paid for. In summary NSFM IS A "CHURN TO EARN" practice with very poor service, rude employees and more concerned about profits than patient experience. I wish I would have read Yelp reviews on NSFM before I went there, the reviews are terrible and now I know why.

Dr Babey is Condescending. I was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia. During an appt. He said my 15minutes is up. Make another appt to continue talking.His medical assistant has No Training.I give 2 stars instead of 1 because I was a patient of dr Eckert for years(good dr), til she went vip.

Dr. Babey is an exceptional doctor! I would recommend him to anyone. He has a great bedside manner and is easy to talk to. Additionally, he explains medical issues, procedures clearly.

Dr. Babey looks very unprofessional in his too tight jeans and plaid shirt. Though we hadn't finished my scheduled examination it was 12:00 and he left for lunch.

I have terminal brain cancer with the typical survival time being 15-18 months. I have now reached 20 months. The very first thing Mr. Babey said when he walked in, sat down and looked at my chart was, Oh, you've lived longer than you're supposed to. Without even looking at me, he followed that up saying, Who's your insurance with? When I responded, he dropped his head and with extreme sarcasm, shaking his head, he said, OF COURSSSSE IT IS!!! As if it's the one nobody wanted to deal with. I called him out on his rude behavior, told him of a physician I have in another state who took me under his wing, calls me every weekend to check on me, gave me ALL home, business and cell numbers and emails because he loved caring for people and he loved his job. Mr. Babey sat back and looked me square in the eye and said, You're right. I hate my job. I'm worn down. I said that it was glaringly apparent. LAST time I will see this man. I refuse to call him by the title "Dr.".

I have been a patient of Dr. Babey's for almost eight years. He is very knowledgable and caring. I like his direct approach...no nonsense. He is always on time and really respects my time. His office staff is very capable and caring. It is really a down-to-earth, yet professional office. I feel very comfortable!
