I'm 45 years old, and Dr. Baciu gave me the treatment plan of a 75 year old. He implanted a distance monofocal IOL without giving me any other options, or any information at all about the changes my vision would incur due to cataract surgery. My near and intermediate vision is OBLITERATED. As a writer and artist (which I told him I was), I am no longer able to create because I cannot trust my eyes. The fact that I can no longer do the things that bring me joy, purpose and fulfillment has left me depressed to the point of ... Dr. Baciu failed to tell me that I would no longer be able to see my face in the mirror, the food on my plate or anything within arm's length. That's where my entire world takes place! When I confronted him, he said he chose distance correction because my other eye is far-sighted. It's not! Both of my eyes were Near-Sighted!!! Either he doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's making stuff up. He also neglected to tell me that I’d need an entirely new… glasses prescription post-op. It was too soon for my insurance to cover an eye exam and glasses, so I’ve had to pay for it all out of pocket. The exam, FOUR pairs of glasses - none of which give me comfortable, functional vision. Now, I have to try contacts and possibly have another surgery. ALL PAID OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. His staff is very nice, but due to Dr. Baciu's poor choices and lack of communication, I am devastated. I feel like I'm living in a nightmare that I can't wake up from. If you see this review on multiple sites, it’s because I made the effort to post it on many platforms for visibility. I can’t afford a lawyer, so this is my only recourse. Dr. Baciu should be held accountable for his mistakes. He has no right to continue walking around with good vision and cutting into people’s eyeballs after what he did to me. Also - many of these platforms enforce severe censorship, and some of them cherry pick positive reviews while ignoring negative ones. The best advice I can give is, do research BEFORE having surgery. Lots of research. My expectations were completely inaccurate, which is one reason I'm so unhappy with the results.
