Dr. Paul Edward Bergquist, MD

I have a complex medical history with some diagnostic dilemmas. Even as a physician myself, it has been difficult to get good care, due to the challenges. Dr, Bergquist is very smart and doesn't give up. I never before felt, in spite of the multiple specialists that I have seen, that I had anyone that I felt I could call "My Doctor". Dr. B. is the best and I will always want him to be in charge of my care, though he may need to send me to various specialists at times.

I have been ill for most of my adult life. Though I am a physician and trained in prestigious programs and therefore had access to the best medical care, I was a diagnostic dilemma. I am so lucky that when I was too ill to work, I returned to my home town and came under the care of Paul Bergquist. He figured out my main medical problem and treats me for this and other more routine problems.He is very smart and puts his patient's interest first, ignoring issues best described as medical politics, and has helped me fight for appropriate treatment from my insurance company.He is quite knowledgeable about naturopathic medicine, but that is not why I went to see him.My main treatment is in the category of regular high-tech (if you will) American medicine. If he does recommend an adjunct treatment in the naturopathic realm, I take it because I know that he wouldn't recommend it if hadn't researched it throughly and found evidence that it is helpful.He is an ethical, smart man. As a… physician, I am less interested in his bedside manner than his competence, but he has everything. He is pleasant, caring, insightful and has a good sense of humor. His staff is also excellent. Val, his receptionist, is super. He has two or three nurses who split up the hours. They are all wonderful- very reliable and excellent about conveying your exact question to the doctor and getting back to you with the reply.I know this sounds like an unbelievably good review. But, it's all true. I am very grateful that I lucked out by finding him in the last place I expected-my tiny hometown of 5,000 people.
