Dr. Paul Curtis Brown, MD

In 1996, I had an ileoanal pull through operation. In 1998, I began to have issues with stricture at the anastomy site. I saw another doctor, who was unsuccessful fixing the issue, before going to Dr. Brown. the first doctor operated and kept me in the hospital for an entire weekend, only to find that his repair didn't work. Dr. Brown was able to fix the issue with day surgery and the repair lasted for 10 years without any further issues. I have since moved to the east coast and have been struggling with strictures for about 4 years. I have gone to three different doctors, none of which are able to fix my problem as stretching the scar tissue does not work. I am considering flying to Washington to see Dr. Brown again so I can get the scar tissue removed and restore proper flow. Dr. Brown is the only doctor who has been able to successfully repair my issue. Great doctor....maybe the best colorectal doctor in the nation.

The care by the staff and Dr. Brown were first class. As a layed back, humorous fellow myself, Dr. Brown and I got along very well. The medical staff was concerned about a previous incident concerning a seizure and my raspy voice. Asking many questions concerning these issues to determine further advice for me. In the operating room, I was most interested in the "feel good" med I would soon be making friends with. I remember telling Dr. Brown don't be conservative and then I woke up in another room mumbling. Yup, no shape to drive and they mean it. Great team, and great Dr. to work with!

I received services in 1990. I again needed services 2011 and am scheduled for some tests later this year, 2013. In this great span of time, I am pleased to receive the same great care from Dr Brown. His bed side manner along with great experience in his chosen field has been very comforting.

I found Dr. Brown to care less about what I as a patient had to say and more about getting me on the table so he could get me back out of his exam room and move on to the next patient. Before he even examined me he said he knew what the issue was just from talking to me (my diet.) When I expressed how I felt about his diagnosis and the solution he suggested he grew frustrated with me, as if I was wasting my time. Prior to going back to the examine room the patient before me came out in tears and I understood why after talking to Dr. Brown - because I almost wanted to cry. He essentially told me to get used to my issues as there was no solution to them but to make it slightly more tolerable. It's been over 6 months since I've seen Dr. Brown, and after 1 visit to my general prac and adding gatorade to my diet (something I discovered on my own) the problems Dr. Brown proclaimed were life long are gone. It pays a lot more to listen to your patients. In addition to this, I found… out that Dr. Brown's office was broken into after my visit. I found this out by having another patient's letter sent to my home address. I found this error alarming and wondered how many other types of sensitive mistakes of this kind were being made.

Dr. Brown is a very caring doctor he lets you know in layman terms. I was embarrased about going there in the first place and he made me feel so comfortable.

Dr Brown was very courteous and listened to my concerns. I brought in a list of questions which he reviewed with me and answered. I would recommend him to my friends in need of a colon/rectal specialist.

Dr. Brown was my Doctor for the issue I have. After relocating back to the Seattle area, I found myself in need of his services. The receptionist asked several questions, my last visit back in 1998 or about. The next question was did I have insurance. No but I am willing to pay out of pocket. How much is my question to which I am told I need to pay in cash. Fine, Now I get transfered to the office manager, Teresa.After explaining to her what condition I was dealing with and that I did not have insurance but was willing to pay, the bottom line in not so many words was, if you don't have insurance we don't want to deal with you. Then she tried to push me off in checking with clinics.Dr. Brown, you were the first Doctor I called after using your services in the past. You are a neat doctor in which I would recommend but your staff needs some empathy training. I did not plan to loose my job, remained unemployed for 20 months, could not afford Cobra but could afford to pay for… your services out of my 401k. Thank you Teresa for kicking a person when he is a little down.

Dr. Brown is a wonderful doctor. He is very kind and caring and easy to talk to. I went to him starting out when I was just 16 and he made a very uncomfortable situation easy to talk about. Now 19 years later, I still see him and he is still the best doctor I have ever had. He saved my life and I am forever greatful to him.
