Dr. Paul Phillip Carnes, MD

I have been a patient with Dr Carnes since 2015, with absolutely excellent results. He has been attentive to my concerns, assuring that he understands my needs. He then develops a plan, presents that to me, listens to my questions, and concerns. Then we agree on a plan to go forward. I have received excellent, short, and long term pain relief from Chronic Pain, fibromyalgia, and its tentacles. His staff is tuned in to his commitment to patients, and I can speak with his PA, and Nurses who can honestly, and fairly communicate with them when I need

Dr.Carnes, 1st he is a Freind, maybe, people should realize that doctor Carnes, is a person who willingly served his country, he knows what it is like, when people are at home sleeping in a nice warm bed. He was setting out about 2 miles off shore in a rubber boat with navy seals, they go into the water and so he goes, they pop up on shore a fire fight breaks out a person is hit, seal down, specialist has been shot, Dr. Carnes, the real specialist moves in , no gun nothing but a medic, he works bullets flying, Dr.Carnes administers care, pulls that navy seal back into the water pulls him, a mile back and they medical back to safety.Some people might fuss and complain, but I know, dr. Carnes, yes he cares, in more ways than most will ever know. He is a great,person, Freind, and doctor. If you are in pain, he will help, or at least try.I do not care what he charges, they have never printed enough money to compensate him for the things he’s done. Just be happy to spend a few minutes in… his presence. Instead of grumbling about what your circumstances have delt to you thank God for a man like Dr.Paul Carnes.

I have been a patient of Dr Carnes since 2017. He has been very understanding and helpful in the management of my pain. I have also found his staff to be very friendly and helpful! Dr Carnes is a caring doctor who truly wants to help his patients. I highly recommend him.

In 9 years of chronic pain, I saw two pain management doctors in VA. After moving to NC I switched to Dr Paul Carnes at Raleigh Neurology. His knowledge and techniques at doing nerve blocks are far superior to anything I’ve ever experienced (and before I was under long term pain management I was a patient at Duke medical center plus I’ve had nerve blocks by a top orafacial surgeon in FL at the beginning of my journey so I’ve has painful nerve blocks with various doctors). Dr Carnes cares about doing things right and he is not afraid to accept a patient with complicated conditions. He may not always be the most patient doctor but he has taken the time to listen to me and thus far I have had more relief under his care than any other doctor. I don’t need someone to babytalk me—I need someone with a game plan to help me! His staff is excellent. If you see poor reviews look at the date! I can attest that in 2018 and 2019, the staff has been wonderful to me, I’ve never seen… such a well run office. They also return phone calls promptly. No one is perfect but if you need a very smart doctor who can give a nerve block safely and has the latest in technology and technique then I suggest Dr. Carnes!

I first started seeing Dr. Carnes on a referral from a friend because my current pain management just wasn’t cutting it. Of course I was scared and skeptical to switch pain management doctors because those of us and chronic pain often treated like drug seekers. However from my very first visit and over the last for years I have been treated with nothing but respect and concern for how to best treat my pain in the most effective manner with the least amount of opioids. I suffer from several different problems and have undergone several surgeries to correct them but to no avail. Dr. Carnes I feel as always treated me as an individual in every office visit I feel as if I have his undivided attention. I would like to also give kudos to Jan his P.A. She Like Dr. Carnes has always treated me with respect and concern to making my life as normal as possible while suffering from chronic pain. I can honestly say the two of them have saved my life by making wife manageable… just one day at a time.

Dr. Paul P. Carnes & his staff are the best!! Dr. Carnes has been managed my severe chronic pain for over 2 yrs. My health & chronic pain have improved due to Dr. Carnes experience and knowledge of patient needs. He is willing to go the extra for his patients. I talk to patients in his office to learn what Dr.Carnes has done to help them. I am happy to learn they too are better because Dr. Carnes CARES!!!

About 10 years ago, I was being treated by Dr. Carnes. He was very caring and concerned. I was 2 weeks post thoracid spine injections and 15 days from RF Ablation when I became a resident for 15 days at a local hospital, due to MRSA in my back. When I called his office and told the staff what was going on, they seemed concerned. 3 days later I received a call from his staff stating they no longer accepted my insurance. A little too coincidental for me. Guess he was afraid of being sued. Never heard from him again.

Do NOT fall for the charismatic sales pitch from Dr. Paul Carnes about how they want to be your full-service practice for pain management. The caring, smiling treatment you get that day is the last you will ever have. Once they've got you under contract and you left your other doctor, you will be treated like absolute dirt and a drug seeker from that day on. I've decided they're putting me through drug tests at every visit, even though I have never failed one, so they can charge me and my insurance company huge amounts of money for many unnecessary tests. PA Jan and nurse Denise are AWFUL. If they do something wrong, and you bring it to their attention, no matter how nice you are about it, you are in for it! Those two women are highly vindictive, passive aggressive, and i am sure they (and others) spread all the gossip about patients they dislike so you'll then find yourself beig treated like dirt by the pharmacy, among other staffers. The list of very serious problems I've had… with numerous "practice extenders" and the pharmacy is way too long to detail. My father was doctor for 50+ years. So many of his patients came to my Dad's funeral just to tell his family members what wonderful care they received, how much they loved him and considered him a member of their family. Sadly, that was a different breed of doctors in my Dad's generation. Dr. Carnes and Raleigh Neuro are nowhere near that league. Dr. Carnes doesn't care one bit about his patients. How many procedures can he book you for and how fast can they get you out the door. Carnes is also extremely arrogant. What an ego! PLEASE save yourself the HUGE mistake I made and RUN, don't walk, as far away from Raleigh Neurology as you can get! Good luck to all the suffering patients who are people who need treatment, not to be treated like sub-human criminal drug addicts. Awful, awful, awful. :(

bedside manner was poor, I would not recommend this Dr to any one!!!!!!
