Dr. Paul Michael Colombani, MD

Our son was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's Disease early on. While we were told by many doctors that he would require an ostomy bag post-op, Dr. Colombani was conifdent that he could perform the surgery without the need for an ostomy and he was right! Our son is alive and well without an osotmy and we have Dr. Colombani to thank for it. He was great with follow-ups and his nurses were amazing (particularly Matt). He truly was a God-send for us.

Dr. Colombani has been my daughters doctor since she was three and she is 19 now! He is excellent!! I will agree at first meeting he may seem flat personality but as you know him over the years he is a wonderful surgeon! He performed my daughters pectus excavatum surgery a few years ago and came in on his off day to check on her! The nurses had said he wouldn't but he had told me he would and he did! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this man! If someone had a bad experience I am sure their is more to this story. I could go on and on listing examples of the positive experiences we had if I had more time. My daughter just said yesterday and I quote, " I love that man!" That says alot coming from her and a developing girl at the time of surgery. The office staff, Kim Watson, was great!! Always helpful. I will admit some of the nurses were alittle grumpy after her surgery but that has nothing to do with Dr. C! Cannot stress enough how remarkable, kind, caring, attentive and… understanding he is! No question was to dumb! Thank you Dr. C! From the bottom of my heart Thank you!

My son had surgery 2 years ago for pectus excavatum. Our first appt was odd- another doctor entered the room, asked to see my son's chest and immediately started to tell us where the incision would be! We were just there for a diagnosis and consult. There are always new interns there- a good thing for them because they are learning, but your bill says Dr C on it, and he sees you for all of 6 1/2 minutes...They also never ask if you mind an intern looking at your son, which is standard everywhere else we've been. Support staff do not return calls and making an appt is practically impossible (unless you're a new patient, I suspect). We've come to the office at least 2 times now to find they didn't have us on the schedule. We got smart and started to call before to verify the appt time, and 4 times they did not have us on the schedule- each time we had tried again only to quit and decide our son didn't need a post op appt. I think we'd go to a smaller practice if we were to do it again.

When Dr. Columbani was to be performing surgery on my child he was walking around the pediatric waiting room with another surgeon. He was to place a central line in my child and it was placed in a poor location causing it to not work properly due to a crimp or other restriction. This can lead to total device failure and can be fatal. We are looking at additional imaging (more radiation exposure) and possible surgery to correctly place it (more anesthesia).

Dr. Colombani did a total colectomy on my 5 year old daughter 3 weeks ago and she is doing great! Her incision is so small and low on her abdomen no one will ever see it unless she wants them to. He and his staff were very attentive and caring and the care she received at Johns Hopkins was amazing. I am so thankful for Dr. Colombani and his team of highly skilled doctors. Having a sick child is very stressfull, but knowing you have the best of the best caring for her makes the situation that much easier to handle. Thank you Dr. Colombani!

I believe he is an excellent doctor for my 13yr old daughter. He replace her port in her chest and she is doing fine.

An all-around excellent surgeon. Very caring, very down to earth, and without the attitude many in his position would have.
