Dr. Paul Francis Dellaripa, MD

I went to Boston in hopes of getting help for pain I've been chasing for 2 years. Dr. Dellaripa made me feel like I was wasting his time. (who's paying who?). He asked few questions; I felt like he had made a diagnosis from my records and before he even saw me. He was abrupt and condescending. I left his office without any hope or help and feeling worse than when I walked into the office. I'm writing this in hopes that this feedback will be heard by him or someone who can help him. Maybe he needs a vacation?

This rheumatologist may be empathic to some patients but I found him very ill-informed about autoimmune diseases, particularly those with no blood marker or other definitive tests to determine diagnosis, e.g. Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS. If you suffer from this type of illness, go elsewhere.

Treats you like you were a family member, and explains procedures so you can understand them

Paul isn't just a technically brilliant physician. He is, without a doubt, the best listener of the many specialists my wife has dealt with in more than 15 years of dealing with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis/hypertension and Scleroderma. We've been fortunate to have a number of dedicated, exceptional specialists to work with in Boston, but he is one of very few physicians that don't automatically consider patient experiences, explanations and questions to to be the byproduct of watching too many episodes of House. We point to him as the reason why my wife not only continues to defy her original prognosis (which was very, very bleak), but enjoys a quality of life that few with her disease are able to enjoy.

Dr. Dellaripa is a wonderful, respectable, and knowledgeable doctor. I had lung surgery last year (2012) and he was able to determine what the biopsy determined along with my symptoms I had and diagnosed me with a very rare type of vasculitis. He is thorough with me at every appointment, returns my calls, and is heart felt about how I feel. Recently I had been laid off from my job and Brigham and Woman's does not accept my unemployment insurance, however, Dr. Dellaripa still returns my calls and gives me advice because I am struggling with finding a rheumatologist that specializes in my rare disease. I do not have any dislikes about him but I am upset with Brigham & Women's for not accepting my type of insurance.....I did not ask to be laid off and struggle with finding employment during this poor economical time. That being said, I am fighting for out of network authorization from my insurance just so I can continue to be a patient of Dr. Dellaripa's, however, it will cost me more… money for co-pays (and unsure of other fees) which is not right. I recommend and stand by my approval of Dr. Dellaripa to my friends, family, strangers, neighbors, you name it.

I was misdiagnosed and mistreated for three years with Paul Dellaripa. Any symptom that did not match his preconceived notion was dismissed as irrelevant and not included in his notes. He was wrong, he was lazy and I suffered for it.

Dr Dellaripa explains everything in a clear, caring way. He always listens to my concerns and always finds a way to help, even if it is to get me an appt with another specialist. He always listens to me when I tell him about treatments I've read about, and explains why some are worthwhile and others are not. He never makes me feel uncomfortable to discuss anything. He and his staff are easy to reach and very professional, pleasant and friendly. They treat you as if you're their only patient..you never feel rushed, yet you never have to spend a lot of time hanging around waiting for them. I highly recommend Dr Dellaripa.

After seeing another rheumatologist for years, I went to Dr. Dellaripa. He quickly diagnosed my condition and got me on a medication that vastly improved my quality of life. I hold him in very high reguard, which is why I followed him from Lahey clinic to the Brigham.

Excellent doctor, quick Appt,short wait, fabulous bedside manner. I feel very lucky to have him. His care for my condition has been better than I could have hoped for.

After 3 major spinal fusions for spinal stenosis and confused along with the surgeon, why I am taking so long to heal well he is the only one who had some ideas, I am waiting for the results of several xrays and blood work,and finally feel like I am in good hands. thank doc!
