Dr. Paul Finley Detjen, MD

Doctor Detjen has a good business providing medications for the various allergies of the North Shore. He is one of a handful of doctors still relying on paper charts, so it impossible to see online records and test results as is the case with nearly all other doctors. I would prefer the ability to submit questions via email which also does not exist. I would agree with others about his tendency to over-medicate and over diagnose. My son was diagnosed with 10 nut allergies based on skin and blood tests. Our family spent considerable time and effort providing a nut free environment only to learn later that these tests are not reliable. Nut challenges quickly reduced the number of nuts on my son's bad list from 10 to 4.

Dr. Detjen is a very relatable doctor. His office is extremely busy, but they make you feel like you are important.

Dr. Detjan is an exceptional allergist! He has helped my daughters and me with our severe allergy problems for over 7 years. He is very professional, competent and knowledgeable. Dr. Detjen and his entire staff are very knowledgable, professional,up to date, caring and compassionate. The office is very clean and well orgainzed. Dr. Detjen and his staff are very responsive and accessible by phone, should you have a problem or questions. I am thankful that I was referred to him by another doctor 15 years ago, I am extremely proud to recommend him to others. I have gone to other specialist and other doctors over the years; but have never experienced anyone as caring and compassionate as Dr. Detjen and his staff.

He helped me with my health issue when no other doctor would. He was determined to find a solution and did! His support staff and nurses are amazing! Extremely competent and personable.

My entire family has seen Dr. Detjen ever since he set up his practice in Kenilworth. I have yet to meet a more compassionate, responsive physician in any field. He is at the top of his field medically, but just as importantly, he has first-rate interpersonal skills. He has treated my family for asthma, seasonal allergies, food allergies and eczema, always with consummate professionalism.

Dr Detjen has been wonderful! He takes spectacular care of myself and my kids. I've learned over the years to trust in and follow his plan because it has rid us of our allergies and solved many of our issues. He basically gave up on me and continued to send me to other doctors for more medical tests. I finally found a pulmonary specialist who has diagnosed me and has been treating me. I have spent years coughing with no help and was seeing dr detjen all those years. Now just two weeks into medication and I feel great w no cough now :) he is also very sarcastic and asked me if I knew how to keep myMouth shut. I am ADHD and this offended me a lot. But he doesn't know I am ADHD cause he doesn't bother asking about medical history either!

Very prone to over medicating. I understand siding on caution but do not believe that Albuterol and Orapred need to be used so often in our instance. I would rather try to only use when necessary and after this was pushed did we find a comprimise.
