Dr. Paul Erich Dilfer, MD

If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Paul Dilfer was my anesthesiologist for a fertility procedure last week, and he made an already sensitive and emotional time even more difficult. Despite arriving early and following all pre-op instructions, Dr. Dilfer was visibly annoyed, dismissive, and rude, not only to me, but also to the nurses. He scolded me for continuing to take my daily medication, even though I was never instructed to stop and the clinic had my records for months. He also criticized me for wearing earrings, though this was never mentioned in the pre-op guidelines. During my IV placement, I became lightheaded and tried to focus on breathing, yet he sat apart from the team and impatiently began asking questions instead of showing any empathy. In the OR, when a nurse began her standard protocol of pre-procedure questions, Dr. Dilfer interrupted repeatedly and even answered for me, leaving the nurse visibly shaken. His lack of compassion and respect was shocking,… especially for a physician working in fertility care, where patients are already emotionally vulnerable. Dr. Dilfer’s behavior completely ruined my experience, and it’s disheartening that the otherwise kind and professional team at Fertility Specialists of Texas has to work alongside him.
