Dr. Paul B Dupont, OD

Dr. Dupont provides very thorough eye exams, but he has an office policy that requires patients to purchase their eyewear through his office, if not, patients are not provided examinations and asked to leave. His policy violates federal law via the Federal Trade Commission, which in part states that "optometrists and ophthalmologists are prohibited from conditioning the availability of an examination on a requirement that patients agree to purchase any ophthalmic goods." When called to Dr. Dupont's attention via his secretary, her response was essentially, "It's our office policy." Unfortunately, it takes three to four weeks to place order and receive your eyeglasses, when (for instance) you can go to Vision for Less and get them on the same day. Too, the cost via Dr. Dupont's office is 3 to 4 times more expensive. Complaint was filed with the Federal Trade Commission and will also file with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
