Dr. Paul Hansen is a native Nebraskan who grew up in the Bethany area of Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln. Hansen spent 20 years in the United States Air Force and completed his training in Prosthodontics at the Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.Â
After retiring from the Air Force, Dr. Hansen served as Director of Graduate Prosthodontics at the University of Missouri in Kansas City from 1995-2001. He then served in a private practice associated with the University of Kansas Medical Center providing hospital-based care for patients.Â
Besides working in this office, Hansen is the current Prosthodontic Section Director in the Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry at the University of Nebraska. During his teaching career, Hansen has received three "best teacher" awards from his students and has written numerous articles in scholarly journals.
Hansen has particular expertise in …replacing missing oral and facial structures as a result of cancer treatment or congenital problems (such as cleft palate or lip), as well as numerous prosthedontic devices and procedures.
Paul and his wife Joyce have been married 35 years, and they attend First Lutheran Church. They have three children: Scott, who is an electrical engineer in New York City; Kristi, who is a radiology technician at the Shawnee Medical Center in Kansas City; and Lisa, who is a student at Central Missouri University majoring in Spanish.
Scott and Kristi both competed on their university's swim teams. Scott swam for Texas A&M and was the Junior National Champion in the 200 butterfly and the 400 freestyle and defeated Michael Phelps to get the honor! He lost to Michael in the 2000 Olympic trials. Kristi swam for the University of Kansas.Â
