Dr. Paul Alfred Holyfield, MD

If I could’ve choose zero stars I would have. He is a joke of a doctor if you could even call him a doctor. I unfortunately had him as my ob while I was pregnant. He would tell me I had gestational diabetes, even after passing my testing, and checking my sugar everyday for two months. He swore I had extra fluid even after sending me to a specialist . When my water broke at 36 weeks and 4 days he tried to push me into having a c-section even though I was laboring great and dilating the way I should have. At one point he came in when I was dilated 8CM and had been in labor 9 hours and said if you aren’t ready to push in an hour you are going into a c-section. Needless to say I was ready to push when he came back thanks to my amazing nurse. When my son was born he freaked out like he didn’t know what to do and rushed to cut the umbilical cord without ever giving my husband the chance and then slung my newborn son to my nurse. Then after my labor was over he walked straight over to my bed,… Sat me up and ripped my epidural out of my back and walked out workout a word. My nurse told me that I was the only v-birth he had done since she had been there which was 14 weeks. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND HIM FOR A FLY LET ALONE A CHILD BIRTH. He needs to be shut down.

Very rude people Mrs Cathy is horrible how dare you all do this to my little sister I will find a way to report this office to any medical administration!!!!

Dr Holyfield was my ob for 2 of my pregnancies, we had a wonderful experience. Very caring, & understanding. Much better than the midwives @ Memorial Hospital.

Sandy and Peggy are amazing! Dr. Holyfield is just a piece of crap.

When I first arrived at Dr. Holyfield's office I was pleasantly surprised by the waiting area, very clean, somewhat up to date decor, and the office assistant was kind. After waiting about 15 minutes I was taken back into what seemed to be a junky storage closet with a tiny bathroom attached, to take a urine sample. After being taken to an exam room, I waited 20 minutes to see Dr. Holyfield, who from what I could hear through the walls, was in a bad mood. He walked into the room, sat down, pulled out my paperwork, and began asking me questions. No handshake, eye contact, or smile. I guess he thought he knew me already because he had my age and weight, and concerns in his hands. He was very short with me, and made me feel like I was in trouble for being 25, and sexually active with my partner of 5&1/2 years. Making comments like "so you moved in with your boyfriend and started having unprotected sex?" "I mean are you trying to get pregnant!?" "Uh huh and how old are you?". I felt like I… was consulting with a preacher who was passing very harsh judgment. I felt like I had stepped into the 1920's. This all went down minutes before I was about to be examined by him, I was startled, nervous, and incredibly distrusting of him. I realize a visit to the OB GYN isn't like getting ice cream, but I'm 25 years old and this was not my first time at the Doctor's. I hadn't been that unerved since I was 16 at my first visit. First and last time going to Dr. Holyfields office. I spoke to my now mother in law about the visit and I found out he delivered my husband 30 years ago and she never went to him after because of his awful bedside manner, along with friends of hers. I now realize why I was able to get an appointment day of within an hour of calling.

I have been a patient for over 20 years. I have complete trust that he is competent and has my best interests at heart.

I would like to say I like Dr.Holyfield and he's been my doctor for quite a long time. He even delivered my son in 2006 by C-Section. I didn't have any problems before or now. His staff is very easy going and explains things to you in detail when you have questions and they really treated me great with my first child as they always do. I know some people don't like Dr. Holyfields bedside manner, but I've never had issue with it and like I tell people who are negative with him about this....well maybe you didn't want to hear the truth of what he was saying. He's just the type doctor will tell you like it is whether you want to hear it or not.....He's always answered my questions straight forward and never hesitated with answers. I'd rather have a doctor like this, than one who don't tell you anything. He must be doing something right because he sure has alot of patients in this area and sooooo many babies he has delivered. So that speaks for itself......
