Dr. Paul Roman Hura, MD

My husband had a neurological communication impairment called Progressive Aphasia. I was not only his caregiver but held the Power of Attorney for him. For several years this disease was in remission. Unfortunately, due to a fall and going to St. Joe Hospital this started us on a path of incompetency and abuse. Dr. Paul Hura played a significant role in his decline and ultimately death. I just buried him two weeks ago and not prepared to reflect much less write a detailed comment but if you have read others that have left comments on his treatment you will avoid him like the plague. I requested my husband to me assigned another doctor while at St. Joe Hospital and they declined my wishes. That specks volumes of St. Joe too.

Pretentious snob- does not read charts- does not talk to family members when patient incapable of comprehension- rude and inappropriate with nurses- failed to alter nutrition intake after removing from IV supplements. Shocker- patient got much worse under this doctors care. Avoid at all cost. If this is the best St. Joseph can afford- avoid St. Joseph too ! Their nurses and ER is excellent- avoid being admitted under Paul Hera care

This Dr. incapacitated my mother as her hospital Dr. for several weeks.. He got her info incorrect and told he she could burn down her apt. If he had read her chart he would have seen that she did not live there for fifteen years but has lived that long in assisted and independent living. He took her off of her Dementia medicine and other meds a reputable Physician would never have done. Her internist was very disappointed in his actions. She became irrational and severe dementia which was quelled when her Providers returned her to her meds. The hospital told me he put her back on the med which was false. If you have anyone who is a senior who you take care of avoid this Physician. Read reports at the Hospitals he practices at St. Josephs in Kansas City Missouri
