Dr. Paul Stephen Jellinger, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Paul Jellinger for about twelve years. Dr. J. (as I respectfully call him) diagnosed my diabetes and for all these years has kept it under control. As my wife would say, I am probably the worst nightmare of a patient a doctor could have. I hear what the doctor says, and then do what I want. Despite my attitudes, I will candidly say that Dr. J. has brought me along, and saved my life, in spite of myself. I have also found him to be one of the kindest and most considerate doctors, and human beings, I have known. I can not thank him enough for putting up with all of my nonsense, and keeping me alive.

I was charged additional amounts of money by this office for tests that I had performed at other offices that cost nothing. My insurance paid for it. This place is a rip off. Go to someone else.

My issue is that after 14 months of being a patient I still had not once met the Doctor. All interaction was with the P.A. When I was given an appointment on a day the office was closed I decided to go elsewhere.

A few years ago he refused to listen to what I was telling him about a goiter. I had been seeing him for 4 years and saw it getting larger. I believe that patients have an intuition about their health, and as a result, when FINALLY pressed to do a scan it was revealed I had Thyroid Cancer. He wanted to give me radioactive iodine treatment with an full intact thyroid. After going to Atlanta for a second opinion the physician there said that doing that was bad medicine and the dosage necessary to ablate the gland would be too high. The gland was removed by him and it showed some of my lymph nodes were also involved. This doctor in Atlanta saved my life. Avoid Jellinger at all costs. He is condesending, rude and uncaring. By the way, when I questioned Jellinger about doing the scan because of medical books I had read about possible cancer his advice to me was to "stop reading, HE was the doctor.
