Dr. Paul Bishop Jenkins, MD

Dr. Paul Jenkins was my anesthesiologist for a surgery at Princeton Medical Center. I have a very rare condition, Neuromyotonia (Isaac's Syndrome), that caused injury during a previous surgery. It was a concern for my surgery with Dr. Jenkins working over me. I met Dr. J. pre-op and he was excellent. He listened, he intervened, and he noted that he saw a letter from my neurologist that my surgeon had provided. He said he was going to re-review it and that he had determined what meds he needed to have on board. My surgery was a success. Dr. J had such bedside manner and professionalism that I am sorry one cannot typically schedule an anesthesiologist personally when having a procedure.

It was discovered at the start of my surgery that the anesthesiologist couldn't intubate me. The surgery had to be cancelled on the spot. I subsequently saw an ear, nose and throat specialist who confirmed that I could only be intubated through my left nostril and I had to be awake during that process. Then my surgeon brought in Dr. Jenkins. He took one look and said that he thought he could intubate me in the usual manner....AND he was successful...for that surgery and a subsequent one. This man is tops as far as I am concerned. If you have any special issues with regard to anesthesia, this is the man to see!
